Assess and Adjust

One of the most important things we do daily is assess. The data we glean form formative and summative assessments should be used to guide our work. I want to make all staff members aware of a recent change at one of our grade levels. The change has been made based on student data.

The third grade team and administration have taken a serious look at the usage of time and the way the third grade day has been structured. Unfortunately, students in their second block of the day have consistently been behind their peers. The afternoon had several interruptions. In order to address student needs at this grade, we have suspended Target Time in third grade for the remainder of the year. This will help maintain the integrity of tier I instruction for third grade students.

This decision was made based on data. We asked ourselves, "where are we in relation to our goals and what do we need to do to get there." At this time, we believe this is the only solution that will not impact the daily routines of other grade levels.

Target Time is still a campus tight at all other grades. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by my office or shoot me an email.

Cookie Dough Party Bus

Students who sold 15 items this fall will be rewarded with a ride on the party bus and lunch at McDonalds. The office will place permission slips in your boxes. They need to be sent home in Tuesday folder. All students must have a form to participate.

Key & Peele - TeachingCenter

Please help us notify parents of "Closed Campus" Dates!

We are excited to spend another month learning & growing with your children. As many of you know, testing season is quickly approaching. During the next month, teachers will be administering STAAR simulations. The purpose of the simulations are to formally track what students have already mastered and to determine areas of growth. We like to identify these as "glows" and "grows." We look at data as a whole campus and together develop a plan of action to help students reach their maximum potential. In order to ensure a prime testing environment, we do close our campus to outside visitors on simulation and STAAR testing days. This means no classroom volunteers or visitors in the lunchroom, for all student K-5. This provides for a quiet building with limited distractions for staff and students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Please schedule campus visits around the following dates:

  • February 9th, 16th & 17th
  • March 2nd, 29th & 30th
  • May 9th, 10th & 11th

Transfer Application is Available

The transfer process is now open. Teachers were given access to the transfer application February 1st. If you are interested in other opportunities within our district, this is the first step in pursuing them. All district employees were sent an email detailing the required process.
