The Falcon
Fieldstone Middle School * April 7, 2017
Dear Parents and Guardians,
At Fieldstone Middle School, we are all checking for signs of spring and are hopeful that the many rainy and snowy days that have kept us inside during recess will shift to sun-drenched ones.
Our students will be participating in PARCC assessments on the following dates:
4/24-4/28 - Grades 5 & 6
5/1-5/5 - Grades 7 & 8
5/8- 5/12 - Make Up Testing grades 5-8
It’s important that students be encouraged to maintain a relaxed and positive perspective throughout these assessment experiences. You can most effectively assist your children by encouraging them to do their best, ensuring that they receive adequate sleep, and providing a good breakfast each morning. As all testing sessions will begin in the morning, it is important that students arrive to school on time. The Department of Education has enacted strict regulations with regard to times and procedures. Students who arrive after the start of a testing session will not be admitted to complete the first section of the test and will be required to participate in make-up sessions.
Please see below for additional topics of interest and the many reasons why it's great to be a Falcon!
I wish you all a relaxing spring recess. As always, if I can be of assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
All the best,
Gina McCormack
Model UN Team
Congratulations to members of our Model UN team who spent three days participating in the Middle School Model UN Conference in New York City under the leadership of Mrs. Hennessey and Mr. Jopp. Representing the countries of Kenya and Kuwait, our students completed a mock simulation aimed at improving the world in areas such as gender equality, worker's rights, and poverty. Seventh graders Sydney Wu and Christina Priestner took home an award for best position paper.
