Dorst Docs
May 18th - May 22nd
Welcome to another Wonderful Week of Learning!
This week will be short, but packed with activities! We will be delving deeper into our Geometry as we focus on how to classify quadrilaterals. Our study will be supplemented by lots of videos, and even a song or two! For ELA, we focus on a volcano found right in our state: Mt Saint Helens. This amazing volcano erupted on May 18th, 1980 - today is the anniversary. ou will get to choose an activity from our Explore More tasks, and report out the results to your classmates. Wow, so much going on, we better get learning!
ZOOM with 3rd grade, Every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 AM
Our weekly ZOOM meetings are an opportunity to learn face-to-face, to explore, and to enjoy the company of our Madison Community. I hope you will come to see each other, and your 3rd grade teachers, for every meeting. Tuesdays we typically focus on ELA (reading and writing), while Thursdays are more focused on math. This Tuesday we will be looking more into Volcanoes, specifically Mt. St Helens. We will be taking a virtual field trip to this incredible place - you won't want to miss it! We will not have a ZOOM meeting on Thursday since the teachers will be at school (no visitors allowed). Instead, we have an alternate actiity on Mystery Science! I will post the information on Google Classroom. For tomorrow's ZOOM, look for the login later today on Google Classroom.
Focus Topics of the Week
ELA
This week we continue our study of Volcanoes with a closer look at a vocano we can see from our houses (on a clear day): Mt Saint Helen's!
Math: Quadrilaterals
We continue to work on Geometry this week. Our focus this week is on classifying quadrilaterals. You will be practing how to name different types of quadrilaterals. Is a square a rectagle? A rhombus? A parallelogram? YES, YES, YES!
Explore More!
This week, you will get to choose an activity from a list. The list is full of a variety of types of tasks, from drawing, to cooking, to writing and creating. You will complete one of the assignments, and report out to all of us - fun, online sharing!
Time to Relax, Animal Style!
Animal Yoga
With all the frenzy of online tasks, meetings, assignments and chores (right?), we sometimes forget just to stop and BREATHE! These Animal Yoga poses will help us to stretch (and you know I really enjoy this), slow down and enjoy the "down time." Let me know your favorite!
