ISTEP Schedule for Juniors
Attention Junior class students and parents:
This announcement is for Junior class students only. Last spring, because of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Indiana Department of Education cancelled the 10th grade ISTEP. This year, the IDOE has made it mandatory to administer the ISTEP to all junior students in February of 2021. This ISTEP is mandatory for all junior class students. In order to meet the graduation qualification all juniors must take the ISTEP in February. This mandatory testing includes in-person and online students. Online students will have to arrange rides to and from the ISTEP testing dates. The ISTEP testing will be held @ 7:40 am in the LPHS cafeteria on the following dates: Tuesday, Feb. 2 (pick up time 9:30 am), Thursday, Feb. 4, Tuesday, Feb. 9, Wednesday, Feb. 10, Thursday, Feb. 11, Tuesday, Feb. 16, and Wednesday, 17th. Online students can be dropped off and picked up between 7:30 -7:35 at the I Street main entrance. Test ending times will vary. We will let online students know the ending times of each day when they arrive on Feb. 2nd. The IDOE does not allow for remote testing, all testing must be completed in-person. As a school, according to the IDOE, we must test at least 95% of our junior class so please understand that this test is mandatory. If you have questions you may call La Porte High School prior to the testing dates. The schedule is provided below.

Slicer Shoutouts!
One parent complimented Mrs. Callahan:
I am reaching out to share a wonderful experience I have had with a teacher at LPHS! Without going into a lot of detail and typing you a novel, I would like to let you know that Kathleen Callahan has been extremely kind and helpful with our son. She has gone way above and beyond to offer her assistance, office hours, and work with his assigned SRT teacher to make sure she can help him recover from a bad semester. She has been kind when he hasn't necessarily "earned" the kindness. She has been gracious in allowing him many opportunities to improve. She has really taken him under her wing and took extra time yesterday for the two of them to conference call with me to let me know what our plan is moving forward for him. I don't know how she juggles all of the responsibilities and still makes time for students that need one on one help and just need a person that is watching out for them, but we feel extremely fortunate to have her involved with his educational experience.
I feel like she has made such a positive impact on him that we have (maybe) turned a corner in making him more responsible for his own path during high school. And as you know, as a parent, this makes our home life much more pleasant as well. Way to go, Mrs. Callahan!
Another parent complimented Mrs. Lebo:
Talk about an educator going above and beyond the classroom. Mrs. Lebo delivered or picked up art projects for students that for some reason could not pick up their projects or have someone pick them up for them. Driving not only in-town but to Kingsbury and Kingsford Heights. She cares about her students! Way to go, Mrs. Lebo!

WiFi hotspot at LPHS
LPHS will now have WiFi hotspots accessible from the parking lot. These wireless access points are an extension of our current wireless network and will work with our school-based chromebooks automatically without prompting for any connection information. The map below indicates the area our WiFi is accessible between our Performing Arts Center and the Natatorium.
