Creating a Culture of Excellence!!

From the Admin Desk

A warm welcome back to all our families who are returning to New Norway School. We have also been very excited to meet our new families joining our school community for the first time. Our names are Mrs. Arial (Principal) and Mr. Searle (Assistant Principal ) and we are extremely excited to be your administrative team at New Norway School.

For Early Dismissal/Staff Meeting days in 2022-2023 , students will be dismissed at 1:55pm. Early Dismissal/Staff Meeting days are the first Thursday of every month (other than September/January). We also have a few slight adjustments to our bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. Doors will open at 8:30am the same time as last year, but dismissal for all students will now be at 3:15 pm.

Counseling services at New Norway School will again be provided by the BRSD Career Counseling team and our Family School Liaison Worker.

School photo day will be Tuesday September 20th. Photo re-takes will take place in November.

Hello

My name is Stacey McLennan and I am the Family School Liaison Worker (FSLW)

at New Norway School. The Family School Liaison program provides free general

counselling for students K-12 and I am in New Norway at school on Tuesdays and

Thursdays. Because students learn best when their mental health is

supported, FSLW work with students and families to manage challenging events

to support your child’s learning and overall well-being. This year, I will be offering a

variety of groups as well. Groups will focus on healthy relationships, self-regulation,

separation/divorce, and social skills. FSLW also provide ideas for support and

resources available outside of the school as well.

Please note, any student aged 13 or younger requires parental consent to see a FSLW or participate in a group.

If you have any questions/concerns or are wondering if your child would be a good

fit for the program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by email at

smclennan@brsd.ab.ca or speak with your child’s classroom teacher. I can also be

reached at the school at (780) 855-3936.

I wish you an amazing school year full of learning, growth and fun!

Do you have a child on one of our athletic teams? Are you a member of the Spartan fan club who loves to cheer on our team?

This year we have an Athletic calendar that you can subscribe to that informs you of practices, tournaments and games for all our athletic teams.
