Campus Brief
Cool Cats,
As I have moved in and out of classrooms this week I have enjoyed talking with our students about their learning. I believe this is important to getting a good picture of what's happening in a classroom. When students know WHAT they are learning, HOW their work relates to what they are learning, and WHY the learning is important for them, I know that I am in a classroom where the teacher has high expectations for his/her students! I know it's a classroom where objectives have been set and students are more engaged in what they are learning. Students are most successful when they are clear about what is expected of them. Thank you for making sure our students find the value in what they do each day.
Quote of the week:
"The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists." ~ Japanese Proverb
If you have ever seen a bamboo before you would think it is not strong, especially not as strong as an oak tree, but think again. Bamboo is used for building and it has more compressive strength than wood, brick, or concrete. It can also bend with the wind which means it is more flexible than oak. Flexibility means you are willing to adjust or change. Life is filled with change and being flexible brings joy and strength that can go with the flow...and make the best out of any situation. Are you a bamboo or an oak? I see value in both, but I love that the bamboo's strength is enduring and easily overlooked!
Have a good weekend!
