Principal's Report
As the school year comes to a close, we have much to celebrate! Oakview's students earned an impressive 97.3% attendance rate for the year and 100% of its students stayed engaged during eLearning. Oakview was one of only 10 Greenville County Schools to attain 100% student engagement during eLearning 2020!
Oakview Challenge students brought home 1st Place for Architectural Design in the GCS bridge building competition and multiple students placed at the state and national level in the PTA Reflections Contest. Our school's nature trail was transformed to become a certified Fitness Trail with a dozen fitness stations mounted in the ground throughout the trail. New interactive flat panels were installed in all classrooms and each classroom is now fresher and brighter with new LED lights as well as new HVAC systems!
While on eLearning, Oakview teachers completed an annual survey administered by GCS and 100% of the faculty expressed job satisfaction and 100% plan to return to The View next year! These are notable percentages given the unexpected demands placed on teachers during eLearning 2020. It is clear when compared to national data on teacher retention and job satisfaction, Oakview teachers love their school and look forward to future years in the classroom! I join all parents in celebrating and thanking the incredible teachers at Oakview as we close a historic school year!
Recently, another GCS elementary school was named a Palmetto's Finest school. This is the highest honor a South Carolina school can receive. Each time a sister school earns an award like this, I think about Oakview. Over a decade ago, Oakview Elementary School earned not only a Palmetto's Finest award but TWO National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education! Most schools would be proud to earn any one of these awards much less all three! So why still talk about Oakview's previous awards in the year 2020? Because these school honors carry on today in the culture of Oakview and its students, parents, faculty, and staff. eLearning 2020 was a prime example of the high standards this school community sets for itself and the positive environment established for its staff and students. You should be proud of what The View continues to accomplish and be excited for the future of our wonderful school.
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish you all a safe, healthy, and restful summer!

Summer Meals To Go
Nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, sex, disability, age or national origin during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available. All children 18 years old and younger are eligible for meals at no charge.
Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, meals will be provided on a to-go basis only and will be served in the school's bus loop; there will be no need for parents to exit their vehicles in order to obtain the meals. USDA has provided flexibilities to allow the distribution of meals to adults to take home to children. Meals may be distributed to adults when children are not present if the adult is able to demonstrate proof of the child's identity. Valid forms of identification may include: school ID card, school report card, child's passport, birth certificate, or any document proving parent/guardian identify and relationship to the child, such as an adoption decree, doctor, clinic, or hospital record, religious record, or daycare center record.
