Back To School Reminders
No Early Checkouts after 2pm
Please be aware of our school policy which prevents early check outs after 2:00 pm. This policy is in place for the safety of our children. Dismissal is a critical time for the front office. They are communicating transportation change information (received by 12:30) to the classroom teachers. We wait until after 2:00 to communicate this information to avoid interruptions to instruction. Dismissal changes are important and mistakes could result in safety concerns for our children too.
CARPOOL Safety Reminders:
Our staff is there for the safety of our children. Please assist them by adhering to the following safety rules:
- Do not drop students off before 7:10 am. Pick up by 2:35 pm.
- Walk tardy students in and sign in for a late pass after 7:40. Sign students out if picked up after 2:35.
- Have your child to exit/enter ONLY on the right side of your vehicle.
- Refrain from talking on the phone. We need to be certain that everyone is focused for the safety of all.
- If you child needs your assistance please pull up to the handicapped spaces. Our staff members can assist you there and other cars can keep moving.
- Drive slowly, our students and staff members’ safety depends on it.
- Do not pass other vehicles.
- If you park in the parking lot, you must park and walk your child across the driveway.
- Do not park in the handicap spaces without a handicap sticker/tag.
Let us know if you have suggestions which you feel will assist us in improving our processes. Safety is our top priority.
DUNWOODY SPRINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Parents, please help us to maximize instructional time and get your child’s day off to a positive start each day by ensuring they arrive on time for school. Students should be in class by 7:40 am. School breakfast is free to all students and is served from 7:10-7:40. If you arrive after 7:40 bell, please sign your child in to the office for a late pass. Tardy students will no longer be served breakfast.
Students who are tardy:
Miss the morning announcements
Have a rushed start to their day
Require repeated directions, which delays the start of learning for all students
Interrupt instruction for all
Learn unprofessional / negative behaviors – arriving late is insensitive to others.

Dunwoody Springs Elementary Community Service Project
Mahatma Gandhi’s idea, “Be the change you wish to see in the world” has inspired us to begin a schoolwide community service program! This year, we’re challenging our students to be outstanding citizens and leaders by claiming, “I am the change!” We will give students several opportunities to step up to this challenge and make a difference in our world!
Our first community service project will help families and other elementary children affected by the hurricanes in Texas & Florida.
We are collecting 3 items:
elementary age books for school libraries that were destroyed in Texas
paper towels for clean-up efforts in Florida
disposable diapers of any size
Donations will be collected through Friday, October 13!
Contact Mrs. McLane, School Counselor, with any questions. We’d like to thank the North Atlanta Church of Christ for letting us partner with them in this community service project!

Help us end chronic absenteeism and tardiness!
