PACE 2022
When a school like Horizon is flooded with individuals who personify respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, fairness, honesty, diligence, trustworthiness, courage, and integrity, great things happen! In fact, it’s contagious to be around, creating a building environment where everybody belongs. Once again, throughout this year Horizon has recognized and celebrated many students at each grade level for being dedicated to the character traits listed above.
With the end of the school year just around the corner, the Horizon staff was asked to nominate the overall PACE award winner for our school. In order to qualify for this distinct honor, the student nominated needed to be an 8th grader who has encompassed all of the character traits of PACE throughout their time at Horizon Middle School. When the nominations were in, several incredibly worthy names were brought forward for staff to vote on. Though a very difficult decision, it’s my great pleasure to announce that Gavin Ahumada has been selected as Horizon Middle School’s overall PACE recipient. Congratulations Gavin, we’re all very proud of you!!!
Ms. Moffit had these words to say about Gavin:
“If there were a dictionary entry of what the PACE traits looked like, Gavin would be the perfect definition. He could be nominated every month. He treats his peers and staff with the utmost respect, kindness, and fairness. Gavin is sure to acknowledge his teachers with a ‘helllo’ as he enters the classroom and a ‘thank you’ as he leaves. You can count on it. His commitment to his academics is obvious and his courage to just be himself is admirable. Anyone who comes into contact with Gavin is better for it. Gavin Ahumada is going places and Horizon was fortunate enough to have had the chance to see him in action.”
Gavin definitely represents the PACE characteristics, and we’re so proud to have him represent Horizon Middle School this year! Way to go, Gavin!
