Last Page of the Calendar!
Hard to believe we are on the last page of the calendar for the year 2019! Each year seems to pass by more quickly than the last. That is why it is so important to stop the fast pace every so often, slow down, unplug, and focus on our kids, family, and friends. When students tell us stories about their weekend or vacation, they do not talk about the things they received, but rather the activities they did with parents, siblings, cousins, and friends. Those experiences create the best memories!
Morgan was busy this week creating our own memories as our Lego Team heads off to state competition on Saturday in Mason, Michigan. We wish our Morgan Stingers "Good Luck" as they challenge their skills against teams from all around the state of Michigan.
We also had a fun, engaging, exciting assembly on Wednesday, brought to us by Mrs. Crum and Mrs. Phelan, our Physical Education teachers. Morgan was fortunate to have Jump for Jill come perform and teach us all about healthy eating choices, and exercise. Students and staff were on their feet, dancing and moving along with Jill.
The next two weeks we have Holiday Shop, a music concert, first School Store, and many activities happening in the classrooms. Our PTO is still looking for volunteers to help make the Holiday Shop a successful experience for our students. A link to the sign up is below in the newsletter.
Have a great week!

Recess Outside or Inside
20°F Recess is held outside
15-19°F Wind conditions will determine recess location
14°F or Below: Inside Recess
We use Weather.com and Accuweather for updates and temperature readings.
If temperatures are between 15° and 19°, the wind chill factor will be considered. A low windchill will warrant an indoor recess.
It is important that children dress appropriately for winter weather: boots, hats, gloves/mittens and a warm coat. All students are expected to participate in recess. Fresh air and physical play help develop fitness and increase children’s ability to focus during learning times. Generally, if a child is well enough to attend school, they are well enough to go outside for a short break and to get some fresh air.
A doctor's note is required to excuse a student from recess for more than 2 days.

Eisenhower NHS Tutoring
Parents may register their students by submitting a request located on our website:
http://ikenhs.weebly.com/eagle-tutoring.html.
This will allow us to prepare adequate tutors for each subject matter. We ask that parents complete the form by Sunday night each week in order to allow us to organize the correct number of NHS students.
Their goal is to provide a safe and productive environment for both students needing help and our NHS members offering their service. Additionally, a staff member will be on site every week checking in registered students and monitoring the sessions.
Looking for Lunch Monitors!
Looking for help on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays!
If you would be interested in helping in the lunchroom, please fill out a lunch monitor application with EduStaff. A link to the application can be found below. You will need to create an account, enter your information, complete some online training modules, and have a background check with finger prints. Then you can work as many lunch days as you would like and be paid for your help!
Several of our lunch monitors also complete additional training in EduStaff to serve as substitute paraprofessionals in our building. If you are interested in becoming a substitute paraprofessional, please use the EduStaff application process below.
If you have questions about becoming a lunch monitor or the online process, please contact Melissa Roth in our main office at 586-797-5800.
