FCE Counselor Newsletter
3rd Quarter 2021-2022
Personalized Counseling continues for students! Remember, this year I'm meeting with each student through individual meetings. This is a special time for students to tell me about themselves, their strengths, and their goals for the future.
Great 8 Skills for Daily Living: Goal-Directed Behavior
This quarter, your child is learning various ways to improve their goal directed behavior so that he or she can accomplish tasks and succeed. As with any skill, mastery takes regular, intentional practice. Fortunately, the more confident and competent a young person becomes with the skills, the more “portable” the skills will be. This means that these same skills will be more readily available down the road, in other situations, when your child encounters challenging social or work situations. Listed below are some "I CAN" statements students can say when they are setting and achieving the goals they have set for themselves.
Goal-Directed Behavior Classroom Guidance
Student "I can" Statements:
- Keep trying when unsuccessful
- Take steps to achieve goals
- Try to do her/his best
- Seek out additional knowledge or information
- Take an active role in learning
- Do things independently
- Ask to take on additional work or responsibilities
- Show creativity in completing a task
- Seek out challenging tasks
- Work hard on projects
