A Word from Mrs. Webb

What an incredible few weeks it has been around our new school! We have enjoyed getting to know our new students and families so very much. Thank you for all of the kind words, smiles, encouragement and support as we settle into the new school year. We appreciate your patience as our county's transportation department works through scheduling and staffing challenges. We are settling into our regular routines around the school and look forward to our playground installation as well as fun events like our first PTO Spirit Night, the Scholastic Book Fair, PTO's Movie Night and fall fundraiser! There's so much to look forward to, and we are so thankful to be on this journey with such wonderful families!

Your Principal,

Mrs. Webb

Morning Car Rider Reminders!

Thank you so much for your flexibility and patience as we establish our morning car rider routines. Our families have been so cooperative! We appreciate you following the route and driving safely through our lot.

**Please remember that carpool ends at 7:35! If your child has not exited the car by 7:35, they will not make it to their classroom by 7:40, which is when instructional time begins. Any cars that have still not unloaded by 7:35 will need to park and walk the student(s) inside to check them in.

Aug. 18 & 19 Carpool Information

On August 18 and 19, please do not line up for afternoon carpool prior to 1:40 PM. There will be a pick up line for Chromebooks which car riders should avoid unless you are also picking up a Chromebook. If you are not picking up a Chromebook and arrive before 1:40 PM, you will be asked to park until all Chromebooks have been picked up. Thank you for your patience! Please note: Chromebooks requests were taken in the spring and no additional Chromebooks are available at this time.

Afternoon Transportation Changes

By now, you have shared with your teacher how your student(s) will be going home each day. If you ever need to change your child's afternoon transportation, either temporarily or permanently, please complete the online form located here (or by clicking the image below) and also on our website under the Quick Links section. Our office staff monitors all submissions and notifies teachers directly of any changes made. Changes must be made before 1pm.

Please do not send a handwritten note regarding a transportation change to school with your child. These are sometimes misplaced in their backpack or not given to the teacher by the student. Additionally, emails sent directly to the teacher during instruction time regarding transportation changes may not be seen prior to dismissal.

Birthday Ice Cream Purchase Information!

Please remember that no outside food or drink is allowed for birthday celebrations at New Hope. However, a great way to celebrate your child's birthday at school is to purchase an ice cream treat from our cafeteria for each student in the class!

The cost is $35 per class/$15 for SI and Pre-K classes. Birthday ice cream may not be purchased using money on your child's lunch account, but instead is purchased using Mypaymentsplus.com. Please purchase birthday ice cream at least 2 school days in advance of when you would like the class to have the ice cream.

A Note From Nurse G

Health Conditions & Forms

Dear Parent/Guardian(s):

I am thrilled to start our first year here at New Hope Elementary! We have such a great team here ready to support your child.

If your child has a health condition that may require additional support while he/she is at school please make sure all necessary healthcare action plans have been completed and brought to the school. All forms needed to help me provide excellent care to your child while he/she is at school can be found on the school nurse page of the New Hope website or by clicking here.

Please have the forms filled out completely and returned to me as soon as possible so that we may make sure your child receives the continuity of care that he/she deserves. If your student requires medication to be kept at school, a Request for Administration of Medication form (1form for each medication) must also be completed. If your child has a condition that does not fall into a specific form please use the Individual Health Care Plan. In addition, please note most forms require both a physician’s signature and the parent/guardian’s.

Please be aware that any medication brought to the school should be done by the parent/guardian. No student is permitted to carry medication to or from school.

If a condition no longer applies to your child or does not require any medical intervention at school, please provide documentation from the physician stating such. Documentation must be received before any condition(s) may be removed from our system.

I know these form(s) can feel overwhelming. I appreciate you taking time to help me provide great care to your child. I look forward to seeing your student thrive this year! Please feel free to call me, at 678-965-5101 x562106, or email me, at gsampson@forsyth.k12.ga.us, if you have any questions or concerns.

STEAM is Special!!

Hello, Nighthawk Families! My name is Natalie Pass, and I am one of New Hope Specials Teachers! My class is a STEAM to STAGE class. This class will focus on the engineering design process, exploration, collaboration, critical thinking skills and more! Students will engage in theatre activities which follow the engineering design process. This process incorporates science, technology, engineering and math activities resulting in presentations and performances for the full STEAM experience!

We will be moving around the room a lot and using a lot of different materials, so make sure to check your child’s STEAM day and dress appropriately. In order to participate in the fun labs in our class, students and parents need to sign our Lab Safety Contract! Please review your child’s grade level Lab Safety Contract at the following links:

2nd Grade

3rd Grade

4th & 5th Grade

After you have reviewed your Lab Safety Contract. Please fill out this google form to sign off that you and your student agree to follow our lab safety guidelines.
