A Message from Principal Sarlos
Today we all had goosebumps. We had our first half school assemblies. Mrs. Parodi's class sang a song in Spanish. Some kids explained our Character Strong trait for April: Responsibility. Some students even came up to the microphone and spoke in Spanish !! All the students showed such great manners and listening and school spirit. We recognized all of our students who participated in the OBOB competition and gave awards to the teams who placed at the top.
We thanked Mrs. Krekorian and Abbey Haffner and all the other parents who put in many extra hours and ran the OBOB. We also announced that our students have more books per student from the library than any other elementary school in Lake Oswego! The credit for that goes to Ms. Grace and the kids and all of you parents for encouraging reading. In addition, we have Carrie Light and Miranda Doyle and Dr. Schiele to thank for our amazing new bilingual book collection!
We also gave out our Peacemaker Awards which is a tradition we started at Palisades in honor of Linda Brown an active Rotarian and a former school board member. We are so proud of this tradition and so proud of your students.
And we are SO HAPPY to finally have had our first school spirit assembly for our school full of Pheonixes!
Thanks to Tracy Vitallero and Jodi Pope our counselor team and Angie Markman our SSS for organizing this and so many things here at Palisades World Language school. Also a shout out to our Amazing Leticia Padilla the true hub and heart of all things Palisades!
We all hope you have a restful break and look forward to a festive Spring together.
Warmly,
Lilian
Algunas imágenes a continuación:
Food Audit
The food audit gives the school a chance to see how much food is wasted during lunchtime. We can make observations and help reduce the waste of food.

Youth Truth Surveys
Youth Truth Surveys
As part of LOSD’s efforts to create a culture of belonging and to achieve equitable academic outcomes, we will once again administer the Youth Truth survey to all staff, parents, and students in grades 3-12. The Family Survey link is ytsurvey.org/losdfamily22, and it will be accessible beginning Monday, February 28. The YouthTruth survey is confidential, and responses from children and parents will be held in the strictest confidence. We encourage everyone to participate. This will be an important piece of information for administrators to improve our students' experiences at school.
Elementary students in grades 3-5 will also complete the survey between February 28 and March 25. This is a vital opportunity for students to provide feedback and help guide the school’s improvement plan. The survey will take 15-30 minutes to complete and will be offered during school hours.
*Please note that parents may opt their child out of the survey if they would like. Click here for the opt-out form.
A Message from Our PTO

5th Grade Celebration Team
Hello Parents/Guardians and Helpers of 5th graders at Palisades!
We are excited to celebrate your 5th grader in the best possible way this year. There are a few wonderful ways we celebrate those graduating from Palisades, and some require your help. We want to keep it simple and have it all in one place, hopefully.
Ways we celebrate:
Tile Project
Yearbook Insert
Legacy Project
Graduation Party
Graduation Ceremony
- Tile
Each year 5th graders create a piece of art that lines the walls of Palisades. The 5th grade committee will be collecting “tiles” drawn on paper (forms are being sent home) that will be scanned and printed on a weather-proof material. This will ensure the project can decorate Palisades for years to come.
Yearbook:
For the yearbook insert we would like to have 5th graders answer a question that is placed next to a baby picture and a current picture of your/their choosing. This allows them to have something special in the yearbook as they close this chapter of elementary school. The entries are compiled into a special insert that goes in the yearbooks. Yearbooks are free of charge for all students.
We hope your child chooses to participate and we wanted to send out some details and deadlines. We need a baby picture your child approves of, a current picture they feel represents them well and the answer to the following question:
Someday I hope to.... OR My dreams for the future are....
Additionally we need your pictures from this year for the candid pages. We are excited to see them come in via the Entourage app and website.
To upload your pictures head to https://link.entourageyearbooks.com/my/Palisades2022 and do the following:
1) Click on Upload. If this is your first time using the site you will need to create a username to be able to login.
2) Select category from dropdown menu.
3) Choose your picture(s), making sure to label them with both name AND grade, and upload!
When posting your pictures, PLEASE make sure to include your child’s name and grade in every picture you upload. This will help things run so much smoother! If you have any questions (or need any help figuring this all out) please email ptopalisades@gmail.com. We will be sending out a digital checklist soon to make sure you don't miss out on any of the categories. We can’t wait to see all your memories from this year so far!
DEADLINE for 5th graders: email your quote and upload baby & current pictures by APRIL 1st.
Legacy Project:
Every year the class will leave something to improve the school and be remembered for, hopefully years to come. This year we are working on a plan to have something made that represents our new mascot and new school.
Additionally, we have discussed a time capsule project that would be left at Palisades to be opened the year our class is set to graduate high school. At this point we are still working out the logistics. Keep your eyes peeled for more details on this!
Graduation Party:
The class will be going to Oaks Park for a celebration on Thursday June 9th. Please sign the waiver below so your child can attend. Lunch will be brought in and the options sent out closer to the time of the event.
Graduation Ceremony:
We are excited to have the option to have a formal graduation ceremony to be attended by family. With an eye on any local restrictions we will keep our class updated as to how many guests tickets each student will receive. There will be a chance to walk across the stage, receive a graduation certificate and pose for pictures. After which your child will receive a fun bag of items for them to remember their time in Elementary school and get excited for junior high. We will be including a sweatshirt with the Lakeridge Middle School Logo on it so they can enter Junior High with some spirit wear. Please take the time to fill out the sizing information for the sweatshirt, link below.
