The scoop on Egypt
Silt
Egypt gets its soil from silt. Silt is small particles of rich soil. Every year the Nile River floods, and it leaves behind silt. Since silt is plentiful, they are able to plant 2-3 crops a year.
Phosphate
Phosphate is one of Egypt's natural resources. Phosphate is mineral salt used in fertilizers. Phosphate is also Egypt's major export.
What people do in Egypt
Egypt does very similar things we would do here in America at the beach. They swim, snorkel, and scuba dive along the Mediterranean and Red Sea beaches.
Egypt's Pyramids
The first stone pyramid in Egypt was built in 2700 B.C. Pyramids in Egypt are used to burry mummies in. Only the rich Pharaoh mummies are buried in pyramids.
Egyptian Mummies
After Egyptian Pharohs would die, they would get cleaned and wrapped in bandages. This turned them into mummies. Then the mummies would get buried in a pyramid. The bandages of mummies unwrapped could be up to 1.6 kilometers long!
