Vera Tabb
Hello Classmates & Dr. Gray
My name is Vera Tabb and I am from Central Virginia, I have two sons and one daughter who are all grown-ups and I have two grandson’s ages eight and nine who are the joy of my life. This will be my second master’s degree from Ashford, my hopes are to one day be an online Instructor at the higher education level.
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
An explanation of which MAED Program Learning Outcome(s) most intrigues you, and how that outcome you selected will contribute to your career.
All 9 of the program learning outcomes hold a place in the learning and teaching process, but the following five stood out to me and the contributions they could undoubtedly make to my career in education. Each of these outcomes will make me a better and well informed educator. Through practicing the 21st century teaching and learning environmental standards I will be able to better equip my students with the tools and educational outcomes they will need to learn, collaborate, and strive in the emerging diverse and global working and living environments.
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
Design appropriate and challenging learning experiences informed by analysis of how learners develop individually across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical patterns to promote student learning and growth.
The initiative to design learning for each student that allows them to learn according to their learning styles and needs. This is the point where differentiated learning will be put into place as foundational teaching of each student that can come from many diverse backgrounds and cultures. Each student presents with distinct and different learning needs. Even though the classroom of students are all at the same grade level, each student will have to have instruction that allows them to get the information presented in class on a level that they can understand and retain.
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
Employ differentiated instructional practices aligned with learner strengths and differences, diverse cultures, and diverse communities to promote student learning in a safe, collaborative, engaging, inclusive, 21st century learning environment.
Differentiated instruction has to be altered to address all the difference of each student in the classroom. Classroom make-up will vary with diversity among students they come from other cultures, students who speak different languages, and students who have learning and physical disabilities or chronic illnesses. We cannot forget about the twice exceptional learners or the gifted learner, each type of learner will have to supported in the learning environment.
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
Design learner-centered instruction aligned with Common Core State Standards, digital age standards (NETS-S), and 21st Century skills to promote learner achievement and growth.
When teachers are planning their pedagogy and lesson plans they will have to make sure they are following the NETS, CCSS, and integrating 21st century skills along with digital technology and computer operation, hardware and software programs that ties into the teaching paradigm set forth in the classroom. Common core State Standards have become the foundational requirement for teachers to incorporate into their everyday teaching plans for the entire class. Lessons must meet these standards to ensure learning is taking place for the new consensus that “one size does not fit all in education.”
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
Use a range of digital technology tools to research, organize, evaluate, and communicate information while exhibiting an understanding of ethical and legal issues surrounding the use of information technologies.
In the 21st century classroom teachers will have to educate their students about the process of using digital technology for class assignments and overall learning experiences. It is in my opinion that before students are allowed to pursue computer and internet use they will have to have a teaching unit dedicated to the ethical, respectful, and safe utilization of these tools, also a day of the unit should be spent teaching the rules of citing other peoples works and how to advoid plagiarism.
MAED Program Learning Outcome(s)
Effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders through written communication, verbal communication, and a variety of current and emerging digital age tools to ensure learner growth and to advance the profession.
Teaching is a profession that requires vision, patience and the power to communicate effectively with all types of other people and immediate peers both on and off the job. When an educator can communicate and collaborate with others and continued education opportunities, this will enable them to set precedence within their pedagogies as to the standards that will be set for classroom teaching and learning environment. Of much importance is the teacher/student/parent relationship for each student. Teachers will have to employ written, verbal and digital technologies to make sure that communication is always open and that parents and students will always have access to them when needed.
Learner growth for educators is just as or more important as it is for students. Peer collaboration and dual teaching are also important in making sure that each student receives a fair and equitable education and that educators are continuously seeking new educational avenues for themselves to stay abreast of all the new learning rules and regulations that are now and will be in the future the standards for educating our future leaders.
An Explanation of Your Understanding of Assessment
Assessment is the backbone of the educational process, without the proper assessment being administered teacher would not know what students already know (pre-assessment), what students need to know and the learning that is taking place in the classroom, what the students strengths and weaknesses are and what the teacher needs to teach to ensure that learning is taking place (formative assessment), and the take away learning that culminates at the end of a class as to what the student learned from the class through either testing the students’ knowledge at the end of the class against what they knew coming into the class at the beginning before new information was introduced (summative assessment).

Cats Wearing Wigs
Each of the pictures of cats are different somewhat like each student is different with different backgrounds learning styles, educational needs, and cultures. This is where the differentiated classroom dynamic begins with pre-assessments.
