GOOD NEWS CALLS
E-Learning Days/ iPads
Minnesota law allows school districts to have up to five E-Learning Days per school year to allow students to continue their learning from home when weather conditions make it unsafe to attend school in person. In District 196, E-Learning Days are held if there are more than two school cancellations in one school year; the third through seventh inclement weather days, if needed, would be E-Learning Days. For the beginning of this school year, a number of our students have been utilizing iPads in the classroom, but have not been regularly taking the iPads home each day. Beginning November 27, all K-5 students will be expected to take their iPads home and back to school each day to ensure we are fully prepared for E-learning.
If an inclement weather E-learning day occurs:
Please check Schoology/Seesaw in the morning for instructions from their teacher for the daysâ assigned learning activities. Teachers will post assigned learning activities on Schoology//Seesaw by 9:30 AM
There will be no live/synchronous (Zoom) instruction. Rather, learning activities will be designed for students to complete independently at home. Students will spend about 30 minutes focused on math, 40 minutes focused on literacy, and about 30 minutes for specialist time.
Teachers can be reached for questions via Seesaw/Schoology message, email or voice mail during normal school-day hours
Report an âabsenceâ if your child is unable to participate in E-Learning due to illness or vacation.
This information was reviewed with students. However, I encourage you to review it again with them at home. Families will be notified with an early morning phone call, email and or text message when an inclement weather E-learning day occurs. The District 196 website and social media sites will continue to keep you updated on this information as well.
Thank you for your support and flexibility, and please feel free to reach out with any questions,
Sincerely,
