Science and Social Studies
Third graders have begun their first round of switches for Science and Social Studies. Students will travel with their own class to a different teacher for one period to learn about a different topic! The concepts are as follows:
Science
Mrs. Piknick--Volcanoes
Mrs. Smith--Forces and Interactions
Mrs. Benoit--Weather and Climate
Social Studies
Mrs. Krystofolski--Mapping Massachusetts
Mrs. Morris--History of Harwich
Eruption!
Mrs. Piknick's class enjoyed erupting their volcanoes.
Each one is different!
All of the volcanoes erupted a little differently.
How exciting!
Mrs. Krystofolski's class was thrilled too!
Math Websites to Support Learning
In addition to the many APPS that are available out there, here are some FREE websites your children could use at home to support their math learning:
Audubon Sea Turtle Life Cycles
All of the third graders learned about Sea Turtles in November and December, thanks to Audubon. First, students had lessons about Sea Turtles and how they are found stranded in Cape Cod Bay. Then, they went to Cape Cod Bay to try and find and assist in the rescue of any stranded turtles. Although we didn't find any at the beach, it was a worthwhile experience, which culminated with the students having one additional "Sea Turtle Debriefing" lesson back at Harwich Elementary. Thank you Audubon!
Mrs. Benoit's Class
Mrs. Benoit's class did a great job participating in the Sea Turtles Debriefing Lesson at H.E.S.
At the Beach
Mrs. Benoit's class listened carefully, and then practiced what they would do if they found a Sea Turtle stranded at Cape Cod Bay.
Mrs. Smith's Class
Mrs. Smith's class was very attentive, and learned a lot about Sea Turtles throughout this whole Audubon experience!
