The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board held a public meeting on Monday, January 9. The following are important news and notes from that meeting.

School Board Appreciation Month

West Linn-Wilsonville staff and community thanked the WLWV Board of Directors for their commitment and dedication to students across West Linn and Wilsonville. January is School Board Appreciation Month in Oregon, providing an opportunity to recognize School Board Members who volunteer countless hours to West Linn-Wilsonville schools, students, and staff.

Board Adopts 2023-24 School Year Calendars

The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board approved calendars for the 2023-24 school year. Key dates include:

  • Aug. 29 — First Day of School
  • December 18-29, 2023 — Winter Break (students return to school on Jan. 3)
  • March 25-29, 2024 — Spring Break
  • June 11, 2024 — Last Day of School (pending school closures due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances)

Board Appoints Two New Budget Committee Members

The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board appointed two applicants to the West Linn-Wilsonville Budget Committee. The Board appointed Kishore Kollu to Position No. 3 and Dan Schumaker to Position 5. Both terms will run through June 30, 2025.


The Budget Committee works with the School Board to review and approve the budget for each school year. Budget Committee members are asked to attend five to six evening meetings beginning in the spring to review the proposed budget.

Board Makes Inter-District Transfer Openings

The West Linn-Wilsonville School Board voted to open for inter-district transfers into the district beginning Feb. 1, 2023. In addition to students who are automatically accepted, additional admissions will be limited to:

  • All Primary and Middle Schools will be OPEN for inter-district transfers.
  • OPEN schools will accept inter-district transfers based on space availability (grade level/course sizes) and school capacity. Parents may suggest a school; however, the district holds the right to assign the school.
  • High Schools will only OPEN at Grade 9 Level and with these limits to each high school. Riverside Grade 9 (15 openings), West Linn Grade 9 (5 openings), Wilsonville Grade 9 (5 openings).

Inter-district transfers will be in effect, with continued enrollment, through graduation. No out-of-district transportation will be provided. No tuition-paying transfers will be accepted.


The district will approve 20 requests for inter-district transfers from the district to another school district for the 2023-2024 school year. Applications will be available and accepted beginning February 1, 2023. Requests for release will be approved beginning March 1, 2023 based on priority status.
