From the Principal
Dear Graham Families:
For the safety of our students, PLEASE do not park in the bus loop - it is reserved for busses only. Also, please do not park on the side of the building, that area is for student drop off and pick up only. If your student attends our Busy Bee program before school, they should enter the building through the doors located on the side of the school next to the cafeteria.
School begins promptly at 8:32 AM. The doors will be open at 8:27 AM for student drop off. If your child eats breakfast at school, they can arrive at 8:15 AM. School dismisses promptly at 3:39 PM. If your child is late to school, they must sign the "sign in" sheet in the office. It is very important they do this because teachers take attendance at 8:32 am.
Have a great weekend!
Remember, it takes a village to raise our children.
Sincerely,
Tony O. Harris

Return to School Plan
From Mrs. Cuthbertson- Media Manager
Please return all outstanding Laptops to the School Office or the IT Department at the Administration Building.
Library has started!!!
Every class comes down to the library once a week to check out a book.
Grades 3 - 5 have the option of checking out 2 books - 1 fiction and 1 non-fiction.
Students need to return all library books weekly on their library day in order to check out a new book. If a book becomes lost or ruined it will need to be replaced and a letter will be sent home with the price.
We have many missing books - please look at home to see if they have books still at home that belong to the school's library and return them to school.
Thank you, Mrs. Cuthbertson
2021/2022 School Calendar
Student-Centered District Calendar for 2021/2022
Student-Centered District School Calendar 2021-22
After months of work and collaboration with stakeholders around the Avondale School District, we have developed our calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.
While adhering to government mandates and myriad other details, the calendar reflects our commitment to student and staff growth. It contains opportunities for student remediation and enrichment through staff-provided intersessions that we feel will help reverse the academic losses that may have occurred for some students over the past year. The new calendar also honors our commitment to our staff members to provide opportunities for them to advance their teaching skills and enhance their content knowledge in the ever-changing world of education.
The new calendar is considered student-centered but we feel that it really is learning community-centered as it is designed to create an environment conducive to a healthy and intentional educational experience for all.
If you are interested in participating in a committee to discuss and plan intersession and enrichment opportunities for our students please fill out the form at this link: Intersession Planning Committee Interest Form.
The new calendar is attached to this email so that you can begin to plan your coming months. Barring any surprise mandates from the state or the occurrence of national or global events that may interrupt our 2021-2022 school year, there should be little to no changes to it.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
James V. Schwarz, Ph.D.
Superintendent

Medication/illness
Medication must be kept in the office. Students must have documentation signed by a doctor on file in order for medication to be administered at school. Over the counter medication cannot be administered to students without a note from a doctor as well.
If your child is sick (fever, vomiting, covid-symptoms), please do not send them to school. We diligently try to prevent the spread of illness. If your child goes home from school sick with a fever (100+), they must be fever-free without fever-reducing medicine for 24 hours before returning to school. This standard is set by the Oakland County Health department.
