Who are the New York Yankees?
The New York Yankees started all the way back in 1903 when New York Highlanders bought out the Baltimore Orioles. But they weren't successful until 1920. They have had the most world records, most championships, and more superstars than any other baseball franchise.

Between 1923 and 1932 the Yankees have won 5 AL (American League) pennants and 4 World Series Titles.After Babe Ruth's retirement those past ten years they have won 11 pennants and 10 World Series Titles. They won 3 pennants in 3 straight years (1962,1963,1964). In 1948 they won 5 consecutive World Series Titles.

The New York Yankees signed Babe Ruth in 1920 and that's when the Yankees started winning. He set a record of most home runs hit in one season. He lead the Yankees to many World Series Titles and many pennants.He is a big part of Yankees history.
Lou Gehrig
He was a power hitting first baseman and he worked really well together with Babe Ruth. Him and Babe Ruth were the starters to "Murder's Rowe".Sadly he lost his life from a disease named after him Lou Gehrig's disease more known as ALS.
Mickey Mantle
He was another part of "Murder's Rowe".He was a great outfielder and a power hitter.He set a record for most home runs hit in the World Series with 18 home runs!
