WATERFORD WEEKLY
March 10, 2017
WATERFORD MISSION
At Waterford Elementary we believe in all students and staff learning and growing together; where innovation, diversity, and relationships are valued.
WATERFORD VISION
Waterford Elementary School
Goshen's Opportunity for a Productive Tomorrow
Choose Your Attitude, Make Their Day, Be Present, Play
Choose Your Attitude:
Thanks for everyone's great attitudes when schedules are changed due to coverages, testing, etc. It is greatly appreciated.Make Their Day
Numerous people have made Randy's day the last couple of weeks with testing. Thanks so much for everyone's willingness to pitch in and help ensure that the testing runs smoothly. This week is IREAD testing and a number of people are involved with that as well. I'm sure everything will continue to go well.
Be Present
I appreciate seeing everyone present in their doorways or at their assigned areas each morning greeting students. This goes a long way towards making our building a welcoming place.
Play
This weeks play has to do with the teachers that are willing to "play" with our students by coaching the girls' and boys' basketball teams. A big thanks to Kyle, Mark, and Lauren for their willingness to coach the teams. The kids will really appreciate it!
CONGRATS TO MRS. KEHR'S CLASS FOR BEING THE FEBRUARY ATTENDANCE WINNER!
Third Grade Shines Again—
Congratulations to Mrs. Kehr’s class for their third certificate for Most Perfect Attendance Days this year. They were the February winners with 7 perfect attendance days.
In second place was Mrs. Moberg’s third grade class with 6 days and in third place was Mrs. Joy St. Germain’s first grade class with 5.
Information from the Principals' Meeting
2.) Transportation Funds/Grade Level Field Trips - If your grade level has not gone on any field trips this year, there is money available for you to use. If you have any questions regarding this, please see Sherri.
3.) Summer School - Information regarding summer school will be coming in the near future. What we can tell you is that there will only be one section of 15 students allowed per grade level, except for 3rd grade. 3rd Grade will be able to have as many sections as needed. This is due to the IREAD requirements for students that don't pass the initial IREAD test.
TLT Update
This week the TLT finalized a change to the post conference. Beginning with this window, the Master, Mentor, and/or Administrator who observed you is going to ask for a "glow and a grow" after your post conference. This will help all of us reflect as we grow and get better at this process. Additionally, the TLT is working hard to adjust our questions, evidence, and model to reflect a focus on student work rather than teacher actions. We hope this will be a positive change for all of us as we keep a laser-like focus on the important part of our job.............KIDS!

Today’s Focus: Growth
“If we’re growing, we’re always going to be out of our comfort zone.”
– John C. Maxwell
Reflections to Guide Your Journey
Think of a time you felt pulled from your comfort zone. How did you grow from this experience?
What can you do today to encourage your teammates to embrace challenges and high expectations?
Think of something you want to accomplish that will take you away from your comfort zone. What steps will you take to reach this goal?
TAP District Meetings: March 22, 2017: Mark your calendars for our annual TAP showcase. This will be our final district TAP meeting and will combine administrators and masters. We will meet from 8:30 – 10:30 in the LGI Room at Prairie View. As you work with your TLT on your NIET site review questionnaire, you will be thinking about your greatest accomplishments this year and your possible next steps with TAP. We want to hear from you in this showcase. Be prepared to share with us in an 8-10 minute presentation on what accomplishment you are most proud of. Explain how you implemented it or the steps involved. These presentations will help the rest of us gather input that could be applied to our possible next steps.
NIET Site Reviews: Please make sure to stay in close communication with Lisa Puckett regarding the schedules for your school’s site review. Lisa will serve as the point person between each school and Jen Oliver as she prepares for her visits. Let either Lisa or Tammy know if you have any questions or need assistance regarding the information that Jen has requested in advance. Make sure that both Lisa and Tammy have copies of that information as well.
REMINDER about Name Changes: In the past couple of months, the HR and payroll departments have been involved in the creation of, or issuing of, federal reports/documents (i.e., W-2s and 1095’s). In these processes, the topic of employee name changes comes up. This is a REMINDER to ALL staff, that we must use legal names for employment and payroll purposes. If an employee has changed his/her legal name, it is important for them to come to the Admin Center to complete the Legal Name Change Form. Note – This does require that the employee present different forms of identification, such as: passport, driver’s license, social security card or birth certificate. If an employee has a question about the process and information requested, he/she may contact Sarah Deegan or Angela Krebs.
March can be…… a hard stretch! We are all ready for spring; the weather cannot decide what it wants to do; students and staff are anxiously awaiting break; we are into testing season……thinking about wrapping up this year and planning for the next one….And more…..but hang in there…..stay the course….. and remember to keep growing students!
Have a nice weekend,
Diane, Alan, Angela & Tammy
