Principal's Update: June
Hello Rawson Community!
*The June principal’s update comes from Emily and Gloria, 5th grade all-stars at Rawson! Emily was a PTO raffle winner at the last Rawson Dance. Her prize was to be the principal for a day. Emily chose Gloria to be her vice principal. They did an awesome job running the school! One of their tasks was to write this principal’s update for the June edition of WolfTracks. Here it is!...
Hi Rawson,
Emily and Gloria here! It’s been a great school year. One of the things that we’ve really enjoyed this year were the school dances. Our favorite was the GLOW DANCE. Also, before the end of the year we have a SPIRIT DAY planned. See below for more information about what to wear.
We also have a really exciting announcement...
Each class voted on the name for our new mascot. As principals, we get to reveal the winning name. Our new Rawson mascot will be named…WOLFGANG!!
We’re excited about our summer and going to 6th grade next year. Emily is most excited about swimming and Gloria is most excited about camping. Thinking about the middle school, Emily is most excited about gym and Gloria is most excited about having multiple teachers
We will miss everyone at Rawson and have enjoyed our time here. We hope everyone has a great summer!

2 Updates from our Librarian

Greetings from your school library!
Library materials should be returned by May 31. Students will receive an emailed notice on June 2 that lists any items they still have.
Please contact Joanne Sobolik by email (jsobolik@sdsm.k12.wi.us) or phone (414-766-5823) if you cannot locate the item or believe it was already returned.
A great way to keep reading during the summer is by participating in the South Milwaukee Public Library's Summer Reading Program. There is an option for children, teens, and adults. And it is free for everyone!
Check out the SMPL Website for more information, and attend the South Milwaukee Community Art Night to kick off the Summer reading program. This event will be on June 12, 2023, from 4pm to 6:30pm at the South Milwaukee Public Library, 1907 15th Avenue.

ISO Donated Clothing Items
- New elementary-aged undergarments (boys and girls)
- New and gently used elementary-aged clothing (boys and girls)
- New and gently used outerwear such as coats, snow pants, hats, gloves, mittens shoes, and boots (both boys and girls).
Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
The School District of South Milwaukee partners with SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) hosted by The Wisconsin Department of Justice. SUSO is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn to with your concerns regarding school safety. A facet of the Resource Center that we are particularly pleased to share with Wisconsin students and parents is the threat reporting system. The SUSO threat reporting system is available 24/7 and is free to all. Students can submit a school safety concern by accessing the app on their Chromebook or by visiting speakup.widoj.gov. Resource Center staff work around-the-clock to respond to reports and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement and counselors.
Traffic Reminder: Curbside Lane For Buses Only
Please do not park in the curbside lane of the parking lot on Rawson Avenue. This lane is designed for buses and daycare transportation. These services need quick access to the front of the building. They maintain a tight schedule with multiple destinations in a short window of time.
-On 15th Avenue (West entrance)
-On Rawson Avenue (East Playground-side entrance)
WOLF OF THE WEEK WINNERS
Wolf of the Week is an internal school award which celebrates the demonstration of positive character traits by our Rawson students. Our awesome Rawson staff will be selecting a variety of students per week who have continually demonstrated our PAWSitive expectations of responsibility, respect, and safety.
*Please keep in mind, these winners are not an exhaustive list. We have many children who consistently demonstrate strong character throughout their school day!
Congratulations to last month's Wolves! 🎉
