Hardness
Density
How packed a mineral or rock is. The more dense the heavier the rock will fell.
Color
The color the mineral is.
Conductivity
How much electricity will pass through a mineral.
Cleavage
Tests to see how the mineral breaks. Minerals will break clean or unclean.
Luster
How a mineral shines.
Streak
The mark a mineral leaves. Can leave a white, black, or no streak.
Sedimentary Rocks
Rocks that are formed when combinations of rock fragments, seashells, and chemicals are compressed in layers and hardened.
Metamorphic Rocks
Rocks that begin as sedimentary or igneous rocks, but then are changed by heat or pressure.
Igneous Rocks
Rocks that are made from cooled lava.
