This Week's Agenda: Exploring the Elements of Fiction
Homework: Sentimental Object Essays are due in PEG writing by Wednesday morning.
Students will also be working on a project in class. If it isn't finished in time, it will be homework. I hope they use their time wisely.
Book: We will begin reading Lord of the Flies next week. We have copies of the book at school that students can check out, however, if your student would like their own personal copy, you shouls buy it this week. This book can be found on Amazon and will most likely be available at Half Price Books or Roma's Books in Rockwall.

Tutoring This Week
Tutoring Times for Mrs. Pogue
Tuesday: 8 am in my classroom/3:40 - 4:30 pm in my classroom; if you need more help, Tuesday night live will be going on in the library until 6 pm. There will be teachers who can assist you in all subject areas.
Thursday: 3:40 - 4:30 pm in my classroom
Friday: 8 am in my classroom
Important: Students who did not pass the Unit Exam will need to come to one of the tutoring sessions for a reteach and retest. (Grades are in the Gradebook) Students can also pick up the reading passage from me to take it home and read it a couple of times to prepare for the retest. Per the RCISD grading policy, this must be taken care of by Friday, October 14 unlesss other arrangements are made with me.
Parent & Student Information
For those students taking the PSAT on October 19th, RCHS is hosting PSAT study sessions for the next two Tuesdays from 4-6 in the library. Your student can also practice online at Khan Academy
Tuesday Night Live is available every Tuesday night from 4-6. Students can get help in all of their core classes from certified teachers. Bus transportation is offered for those students who check in by 4:15. Busses leave at 5:15. This is a great way for your child to get extra help and we serve free popcorn! Currently, I serve as an English tutor every other Tuesday.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: We will have a parent/teacher conference day on Monday, October 31. If you are interested in coming on or setting up a phone conference, please let me know. I will also be sending out a sign-up form later in the week.

October 31: No school for Students; Parent Conference Day for Teachers
November 7: No School for Students
