A Note from the Principal...
Dear Brentwood Families,
What IS Bullying Anyway?
From time to time, teachers receive questions about “Bullying.” Bullying by law means, “ .. overt, unwanted, repeated acts or gestures, including verbal or written communications or images transmitted in any manner (including digitally or electronically), physical acts committed, aggression, or any other behaviors, that are committed by a student or group of students against another student with the intent to harass, ridicule, humiliate, intimidate, or harm the targeted student and create for the targeted student an objectively hostile school environment …” The key word in the phrase is “repeated.”
A one-time act that harasses or intimidates is considered just that – harassment or intimidation. All are acts that will receive the attention of a teacher or administrator at school. Bullying, on the other hand, indicates that there are repeated acts by one student toward another student or by one student acting similarly toward several students.
We will address this issue at our Safety and Security Parent Meeting next Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
Mr. Underwood

Value of the Month "Integrity" Student - May 2015 - Ava Becker
She makes the choice to tell a teacher when she has made a mistake so she can resolve the problem quickly. "One time, I forgot to collect money from her and she brought it to me anyway! When she finds something that doesn't belong to her, she finds the owner. Ava is an excellent example of integrity because she makes the right choice 0 usually the hard choice - when no one is watching. I know that I can always depend on Ava to be honest!" says Miss McNeely.
