Writer's Workshop: Wrapping it Up

Our writers are busily working to edit and revise their "sloppy copies" of their expert books. They are actually too busy to even write family letters this week! We have been using an Informational Writing Rubric/Checklist to help. Writers are learning to "close read" in order to carefully check for spelling, punctuation, and capitalization. Next week we will produce final copies that are ready to be shared with you at our Writers' Celebration on Friday!

Reader's C.A.F.E.

This week in Reader's CAFE we read three Tommy DePaola books related to Strega Nona. Readers practiced making inferences by using the pictures to guess what happened in a story, as well as connect to characters. We truly enjoyed having interactive read aloud sessions where everyone participated and gave some insight into the stories we read.

Go Noodle Day

Our class earned another 100 tallies and celebrated by having our very own Go Noodle Day! Each child chose a Go Noodle activity for the class to do together. We also visited 8 classrooms and Go Noodled with them! Our class took over the official Go Noodle Instagram account @gonoodle. We had a great, but exhausting day!

Valentine's Day Celebration

Last Friday we celebrated Valentine's Day with a plethora of activities including themed literacy stations, writing activities, and crafts. 2G loved giving and receiving Valentines, as well as celebrating at our party on Friday. We loved dancing, making valentines, playing Bingo, and decorating cupcakes. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this day so special for us!

Social Studies: Presidents' Day

Over the past week and a half 2G learned about the history behind Presidents' Day. We learned some important facts about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as well as many other presidents. Students enjoyed watching and reading a Scholastic News online that let us in on a little secret...George Washington used to be in charge of spies!

Community Meeting: 2G Presents Freeze It!

Our class presented a Go Noodle game called Freeze It, where we demonstrated our knowledge of the three types of communities: rural, urban, and suburban. Students first presented facts about the communities, then we got the entire school dancing and answering questions. Watch the links to the videos below!

Everyday Math- Highlights of This Week
