THE's Weekly eBlast
September 18, 2016
I hope that you had a wonderful weekend with your family! We look forward to greeting our student leaders tomorrow for a great week!
I would like to ask for your help with a few safety concerns. Our car rider line is definitely getting faster now that the routine has been established. Thank you for patience!
In helping make the process a safe one, please remember the following while dropping off or picking up students:
- In the morning, use one of these three options: car rider lane in the front, after 7:30am use the back curbside car lane, or park in the visitor parking lot and walk your child into the building using our crossing guards for safety. Dropping students off in the parking lot is not a safe practice.
- Be sure that your car is not blocking Wilderness Oak traffic when turning left into the school.
- Remain in the car lane behind other cars rather than pulling out of the lane. We have seen students, adults, and cars almost get hit when cars pull out of the lane. Follow the car lane all the way down and into the flow of traffic;
- Use one of these two car rider procedures in the afternoons: the car rider lane or park & pick up in the back.
Thank you for your help! Safety comes first!
Charting the Course: School wide Behavior Goal
Mrs. Davis is checking in with her class on the school wide behavior board. They were discussing how many times they have been caught exceeding expectations, "Golden" Behavior. This is a great way to keep the students focused on achieving their goal while discussing how they are supporting our school wide efforts. Way to Be Proactive!
Student Leaders Checking In
Even our intermediate grade levels take time out of their morning to stop by and look at their classes. It shows their excitement for creating a plan and working together as a class to achieve even when their teacher isn't looking. Way to go leaders!
Students are helping promote Read In, an HEB Reading Program to help grow our readers. Next week, September 21st, all of our students will stop all activities to take a 30 minute time block to READ. We want to support HEB because they support our schools, yet the greatest accomplishment is supporting our students. Our reading goal states our grade levels will show a 5% increase in Reading Performance each grading period. This is a Win-Win for us and HEB! Talk to your students about what they are planning to read next week. I can't wait to see all of our students helping us achieve reading success.
