Big image

October is Principals Month!

This week we highlight the High School Leadership Team of Denny Lind and Terry Waldrep. Here are some comments from teachers and staff.

Mr. Lind: Mr. Lind is very energetic, enthusiastic, and loves coming to work everyday. He is all about our kids and what is best for them and our school. He is willing to go the extra mile for anyone, anytime. He always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He could be having the craziest day, but he keeps smiling. His attitude is infectious to all those around him. He is a great role model, leader and a truly caring person. We appreciate all that Mr. Lind does for our students, staff and school.

Mr. Waldrep:

Mr. Waldrep is the epitome of calm, cool and collected. In any weighty or pressing situation, he remains the voice of reason and never loses his cool. The respect he commands and has earned from the students and faculty is remarkable. He is a great listener and a great role model for all. He is all about our students and always wants the best for them. He has a positive attitude and always willing to do whatever needs to be done. Students appreciate that he listens and is understanding.

We could not ask for better leadership than what we have with Mr. Lind and Mr. Waldrep, they are truly appreciated!!

  • From a parent: I just wanted to pass along a little something I overheard yesterday. My son had a second-grade friend over at our house and I heard my son tell him how great third grade is and that he should hope he gets Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Hill next year because, "they are THE NICEST third grade teachers of all." I want so much for my kids to enjoy school and to love learning. Thank you for all you do for our kids!! Have a wonderful week. -SH Intermediate parent

  • Thanks to Mr. Lind, Coach Mercer, and Mr. Snell for coming out to watch the Area Fall Tennis finals! It means a lot! SH Tennis finished 4th in the Area. - Coach Latham

The Spring Hill HS Band earned 1st division marching contest rating for the 16th consecutive year!

The judges and other directors in attendance at the contest were extremely complimentary of the SH band and our school district. Some of the judges' comments were: It was great to see everyone at the contest supporting our group and , many were able to stream the contest live online. The band boosters were in full support, as always, providing burgers for the students and parents after the contest.

SH Trustee Participates in Leadership Program

From TASB:

Karen Wright, trustee from Spring Hill ISD, joined 34 other school board members from across Texas September 22-24 at the kickoff session of the Leadership TASB class of 2017. Selected by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), the group is participating in a yearlong education leadership study program. These trustees represent school districts of all sizes, with student populations of 1,000 to 159,000, and reflect a similar range of property wealth.

Participants who complete all required elements of the study will graduate next year by earning Master Trustee status. This is the highest designation recognized by TASB.

Meeting in conjunction with the Texas Association of School Administrators/TASB convention in Dallas, the trustees heard featured speaker Peter DeLisle. DeLisle, a recognized authority on leadership training, focused on characteristics of effective leadership and team building. The second featured speaker was Debra Fine, a nationally known motivational speaker and author of The Fine Art of Small Talk. Board members also received training at convention sessions and attended the TASB Delegate Assembly, the Association’s annual business meeting.

Other Leadership TASB sessions are scheduled for San Antonio, November 17-19; Austin, February 16-18; McAllen, April 20-22; and Forth Worth, June 22-24. Each session has a unique theme that builds on the previous session and features nationally recognized experts in the fields of leadership development and education. Teams also work throughout the year on extended learning assignments between meetings. Created in 1993, Leadership TASB has more than 800 graduates to date.

TASB is a voluntary, nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local Texas school boards. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve more than 5.3 million public school students.
