Room 304 Update
April 12, 2016
Math test on Wednesday!
We will take the unit test on fractions and decimals Wednesday, April 13. Today we will complete a math review, which closely resembles the test; on Tuesday we will review and practice any areas students are still working on. After April Break, we will be continuing to work with fractions, this time with a focus on word problems. Also coming up, we will start cycling back to skills taught earlier in the year, to make sure students have a strong foundation as they move on to 5th grade!

Poetry All Around
We have been exploring poetry in reading and writing, and I am amazed at how perceptive and thoughtful our students are as they analyze and write poetry! Be sure to ask your child what poems they have read, and what topics they are writing poems about. Animal poems, and poems inspired by William Carlos Williams' The Red Wheelbarrow, have been common topics in the classroom. We are also beginning to share poetry in different ways--typing up poems to display in the classroom, and recording each other reading poetry. This is one of my favorite units of the year, and I think many students would say the same!
Books, Books, Everywhere!
Our class visited the book fair on Monday, and I submitted the Scholastic Book Order the same day. If students did not purchase books at the Book Fair, but would like to, it will be open additional hours throughout the week.
PARTY!
A big thank you to our room parents, for organizing our upcoming class party! There's no better way to get ready for April Break than celebrating together.
April Break
School is closed April 18-22. I hope you have a restful, relaxing break; if you are traveling, I wish you a safe trip! School will resume Monday April 25.
