Badger State Testing

We will still have students who will need to finish ELA and Math portions of the test next week.

Horizon Food Drive

Next week, the week of April 27th, Horizon is having a food drive. Our homeroom is looking to see if we can collect the most items for our local food pantry. Students can begin bringing in items Monday. All donations are due by Friday.

We'll be wrapping up the first part of the unit that deals with fractions and moving on to decimals. Feel free to take some time to look at the place value names for the decimal side of numbers, as well as their relationship to fractions.

We've discussed what makes a book a historical fiction book. Historical fiction books have been selected by students. We'll be using several historical fiction read aloud books as samples of texts we could use to generate a literary essay.


We've kicked off our literary essay unit. As a class we'll generate an example of a literary essay we can use later. We'll also look at other sample essays as we begin to brainstorm ideas from our historical fiction texts.

Friday, May 1st at 12:00 noon is our next Writer's Celebration.

Phy Ed Class --Monday, April 27th

Our class will be running the mile in PE class on Monday, April 27th. Students must have appropriate running attire, including tennis shoes that day. IF the weather does not cooperate on Monday, students will run the mile on Friday, May 1st.

Regions -- Northeastern states of the US. Test on this region, as well as previous regions studied, will be on Friday, May 1st.

A few reminders...

Spelling Unit 17 will begin the first week of May -- taking a week off next week with our busy schedule.
