Welcome to News from the Arts
Updated Arts Health Protocols
Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! Our students have been singing, playing, acting, dancing, and making beautiful artwork together, albeit in a slightly different way as we adapt to the realities of the pandemic. We are so proud of our students, their resilience, and the joy that they bring to their work. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize our arts teachers across the district, who have given countless hours and tremendous effort to ensure that your children continue to have a positive and meaningful experience in the visual and performing arts.
Over the last 19 months, we have worked closely with our school physician and the Princeton Health Department to determine the best path forward during the pandemic. We are pleased to announce that we will be transitioning to Phase 2 (indoor music instruction) on November 1. While engaged in indoor activities that generate additional aerosols (like singing, playing wind instruments, acting, and dancing), students will wear face masks and will be spaced apart at six feet of social distance. We have ordered special face masks and bell covers for every child who plays a wind instrument in our program.
If community transmission numbers continue to hold steady or decline, we will move to Phase 3 (indoor performances with an in-person audience) on November 29. Some of our performances may have limited capacity or be streamed if we cannot safely bring large groups of students and families together, but it is our hope that we will continue to move towards a more "normal" spring. Our complete arts plan can be found on our district website. Please feel free to contact Patrick Lenihan if you have any questions
Thank you for your continued support of our arts program.

Princeton Middle School Fall Play: This Is Your Brain on Social Media
Something must be done about the children! When a school stages an intervention for three of their most social media obsessed students, the ultra-righteous Amanda Boseman arrives armed with an array of cautionary tales. Romances are dictated by who the internet ships! Anybody could be a bot! Convinced yet? Inspired by interviews with teens about their online lives, This Is Your Brain on Social Media takes on both social-media madness and the grown-up hysteria over kids these days.
This performance will be available for streaming on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 7:30 PM. Information about tickets and streaming will be released soon.
