If I Were In Charge of the World
I'd end poverty,
end racism,
end world hunger, and especially child hunger.
If I were in charge of the world
there'd be justice,
peace, and
black lives would matter.
If I were in charge of the world
you wouldn't go hungry.
You wouldn't worry about walking alone at night.
You wouldn't have to text someone saying you got home safely.
Or that you're not in danger.
If I were in charge of the world
all races,
all sexes,
and all classes
would be treated equally.
Ballad
I've been singing that song.
The one you were humming the other day,
and I can't get it out of my head.
I can't get you out of there either.
You give me that feeling.
When you're on a long car ride
and you just zone out
and forget all your troubles.
It's crazy how much I think about you.
You're my first thought in the morning,
the last before I go to sleep,
and all the ones in between.
You've got me laughing in my dreams,
and smiling in my sleep.
Free Verse
you never really stop
you never forget their favorite song
or the way they used to sing it
you never forget the how their eyes sparkled
or the way their hair used to flow
you never forget their voice
or the way they used to talk
you remember all the little things
because
when you love someone
you never really stop
