Gut Health During times of Stress
with Janelle Imel, Holistic Nutrition Counselor
90 Minute Gut Health Webinar for Autistic and Non-Autistic Adults
Our world is forever changed as a result of COVID-19. Social distancing, isolation, and mental and physical symptoms of stress are at an all time high. Stress can affect digestion including what nutrients the intestines actually absorbs. It can also affect how quickly food moves through our bodies which can cause either diarrhea or constipation. Along with this, it can induce muscle spasms in the bowel which can be extremely painful.
Similarly, in recent years there has been an emerging interest in the mind-gut connection related to autism spectrum. Accumulating evidence has shown a link between alterations in the composition of the gut microbiota and both gastrointestinal and neurobehavioural symptoms in autistic children.
If you are or have struggled with gut issues, are on the spectrum or non-spectrum, this webinar is for you!
During this 90 minute webinar, NCH's Holistic Nutrition Counselor Janelle Imel will address the following:
- The correlation between autism, the microbiome, and intestinal permeability
- Symptoms and conditions associated with poor gut health (such as anxiety, depression, seasonal allergies, brain fog, autoimmune conditions and more)
- Important Roles of the gut and gut microbiota
- How the intestinal lining becomes permeable also known as "leaky gut
- Top gut damaging contributors (including gut infections and overgrowth such as SIBO, Candida Overgrowth, H Pylori, Parasites and more)
- How to address the root causes of gut permeability
