St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.
Principal's Message
Dear St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Families,
With November almost over and Thanksgiving upon us, we are reminded of all the blessings in our lives. Blessings was the topic we discussed during our November Faith Families assembly the first Monday of the month, and your children shared some of the many blessings in their lives: their families, friends, our great country, our freedom, our Catholic faith, and our Catholic school, just to name a few.
Personally, I would count those same blessings but would also add your wonderful children, all of you, and our SMG community among my many blessings. I wish you all a wonderful Thankgiving holiday filled with much turkey and many blessings!
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Laura Behee, M.Ed.
Principal

The 2019-2020 Annual Fund and End-of-Year Giving
The St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Annual Fund is essential to help fill the gap between tuition and operating expenses. The school’s 2019-2020 Annual Fund helps provide funding for many of the school’s most pressing needs such as academic enhancements, security improvements and updates, professional development for our teachers, and general operating expenses.
With the end of 2019 just around the corner, this is the opportune time to include the school’s 2019-2020 Annual Fund in your End-of-Year giving. Donations can be made by check (payable to SMG Catholic School), or online by visiting https://smgschool.org/give-now. Every gift counts!
Condolences
The St. Maria Goretti Catholic School Community extends its deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of Mrs. Anne Tracy, former SMG School Nurse and mother of SMG alumni Chris, Paul, and Brian.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the food drive. Your generosity provided many families with a delicious Thanksgiving feast to enjoy with their family. In addition to food donations, $175 was collected for the purchase of turkeys! All donations go to the Padre Pio House.
May the beauty and blessings of Thanksgiving bring warmth and peace to your home this season. Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.

Veneration of Holy Relics
Last Tuesday, all classes visited the church to venerate the relics and say a litany of the saints.
The word relic comes from the Latin relinquo, literally meaning I leave, or I abandon. A relic is a piece of the body of a saint, an item owned or used by the saint, or an object which has been touched to the tomb of a saint. Traditionally, a piece of the body of a saint, especially that of a martyr, may be with the permission of the local ecclesiastical authority used in solemn processions recalling the specific holy person.
