MCPS Chromebook Devices
Beginning in the 2020-2021 school year, each student and that student’s parents/guardians are financially responsible for damage or loss to any Chromebook that is checked out by the student. The device is loaned to the student to be used for instructional purposes only and in accordance with MCPS Regulation IGT-RA, User Responsibilities for Computer Systems, Electronic Information, and Network Security, and with MCPS Technology Document Acceptable Use Policy for Chromebooks. By borrowing a Chromebook from the school, the student and the student’s family acknowledges that they have read and understood the contents of this document and its linked articles.
There is no cost associated for a student to borrow, possess, or use an MCPS Chromebook. Families are only financially responsible when there is avoidable damage to the device. If the device is faulty, there is no charge to the family; however, if the damage is considered avoidable or the device is lost, the family will be charged according to the repair cost chart in section three.

George B. Thomas Saturday School Open House
As we begin the second quarter of the 2021-2022 school year, The George B. Thomas Sr. Learning Academy, Inc. is pleased to offer an open house for parents interested in additional academic support and/or acceleration on the 6th day of learning (Saturday mornings). Please allow our certified teachers to support your work in mitigating learning disruption.
Our class sessions begin at 8:30 am each Saturday with a motivational session. After the session, students then participate in an hour of reading/English instruction and then an hour of math instruction. During the open house, we will share information about the programs we offer, the curriculum, and testimonials from families that have participated in the program over the years.
To register for the Open House, parents should visit https://saturdayschooltownhallnov18.eventbrite.com.
The cost for Saturday School is $40 for FARMS students and $85 for all others. This cost covers the entire school year through May and registration is open all year.
