Makerspace is coming soon!

This year the library will also be launching a makerspace! A makerspace is simply a space where students are given the time, freedom, and resources to make or create. Our library's makerspace will be both low-tech and high-tech. Some of the materials available will be Legos, Lego robotics, blocks, circuits, tablets, , duct tape, clay, Sphero (see the video below), and more! This space will allow students to think critically, be creative, problem solve, work collaboratively, and improve their STEM/STEAM skills. My goal is to begin training students on the space (growth mindset, procedures, safety, etc.) a few small groups at a time during AC Lab. Hopefully we can then move forward to reaching more students. Questions? Please ask!

Book Fair is Coming!!

Along with conference week comes the Scholastic Fall Book Fair. The book fair is invading the library next week from Tuesday through Friday. Please come anytime on Tuesday to pull books you would love to add to your classroom library. Students will create a wish list during their library time as well as check out books. It will be a busy week! I hope this will be our most successful book fair yet.

Carman Morning News

We are off to a great start with the Carman Morning News. Sara and I have tried to come around and make sure all the sound is working correctly so you can hear the announcements clearly. If you are having problems, please let us know. Also, if you would like to make an announcement, send me an email a day or more in advance and I would be more than happy to add it in the announcements. Thanks for listening every morning!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for reading! To be entered in a drawing to win this month's prize (30 minutes of extra library release time!! Or 30 minutes of Miss Plumley covering your duty!!), please send me a short email by Thursday, October 15th with your feedback of what you would like me to do with your class during library time. I would love to partner with you so that my lessons are not taught in isolation. I appreciate your feedback. Winner will be chosen at random and announced on Friday, October 16th.
