SHS Updates and Reminders

Celie Lowe - Recipient of the Chatham 360 Award

Silk Hope School would like to congratulate Celie Lowe as our school's inaugural recipient of the Chatham 360 Award! Each year Chatham County Schools will be selecting one student from every school to be recognized for making special contributions to his or her school community beyond the classroom. The Chatham County Board of Education will be recognizing Celie during the May 13 board meeting that starts at 5:30 p.m. in the historic courthouse in Pittsboro.

Spring Fling

The Silk Hope School Spring Fling that was originally scheduled for Friday, April 26th will be rescheduled shortly. Once we have a new date, we will notify students, staff, and families as soon as possible. It’s going to be a great time and we are excited for your attendance and support.

Wednesday, May 1 - No School for Students

As a reminder, there will be no school on Wednesday, May 1st for students. Because the current Chatham County Schools calendar includes instructional hours that exceeds state requirements, the school day will not be added back into the calendar for students.

National School Lunch Program

Did you know, the National School Lunch Act was signed by President Harry Truman in 1946, providing free or reduced price lunches for students who qualify. Chatham also accepts online applications at https://www.lunchapplication.com/. Only one application is necessary per family and your status will remain confidential. Paper applications are also available in the front office at SHS. For more information, please go to https://www.chatham.k12.nc.us/Page/21130
