Middle school students get off to a great start for the school year!
A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings Kingsway Community!
As we begin October, I am proud to report such a successful beginning to the 2020-21 school year. This summer we were tasked with many challenges to change policies, procedures, behaviors, routines....all in order to keep our school safe. We are off to a solid start and will continue to adjust, reflect, fine-tune, listen, and evaluate in regards to every aspect of our school, and we are confident that Schoology will become easier to navigate for all as time goes by, and we are certain it will pay huge long-term dividends. A huge thank you is in store to our entire staff and our students who have helped this school year get off to a smooth start in an unprecedented September.
We will kickoff October by collecting submissions for our #1DragonFamily t-shirt contest. Submissions will be collected on Friday with the winner receiving a fifty dollar gift card and having his/her design printed and sold in our school store. The theme for our contest is "Kingsway Unity" as part of our #1DragonFamily program. This month we will focus on "Fairness"; students will partake in a lesson in science class designed to promote this character trait. Additionally, our nine virtual clubs will begin this month. Encourage your child to get involved. Finally, over one hundred 8th grade students were recognized for their hard work in the spring; each of those one hundred thirteen students were granted Renaissance cards. Please begin promoting this opportunity for your students as they begin this school year. Getting involved in our clubs and community service while striving for academic success are all keys to becoming Renaissance card holders in February.
Have a great October,
Brian Tonelli

Attendance: Please keep in mind that on days when your child is not physically in the building (this will vary depending on the cohort), attendance is calculated based on your child's activity in Schoology. Students must log into Schoology and complete assignments each and every day they are home in order to be marked "Present".
Career Day: This year' s annual Career Day will be held virtually on November 25, 2020. Please reach out to our Guidance Department at ext. 3043 if you are interested in being a presenter. Click here to sign up.
Picture Days: School pictures will be taken at various times this year. In the coming days, Cohort V will have the opportunity to sign up via Sign Up Genius for a time that fits their schedule. Below are the following picture day dates:
Cohort A--October 26th (during school hours)
Cohort B--October 29th (during school hours)
Cohort V--October 26th and October 29th (from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M.)
Virtual Clubs: KRMS is proud to announce our nine virtual clubs that begin on October 6th. All clubs will be held virtually, and students should join the club of their choice via Schoology. Each club has a "code" that must be entered in order to join the group. Clubs will take place from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays. Each club will meet a total of twelve times throughout the year. Click here for all of the clubs and their respective codes.
Shout Out: Congratulations to new 7th grade Dragon, Hailey Blair who recently competed in the National American Miss Pageant. Hailey placed in ten categories. A Kingsway good luck is in store for Hailey as she moves on to compete in the National All American Miss Pageant in the near future.
Contacting Teachers: Please keep in mind that between the time of 9:35 am and 2:51 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays teachers are conducting their hybrid classes and may not be able to respond to emails immediately.
Team Meetings: If a concern arises or you would like the opportunity to meet with your child's team of teachers, please reach out to our Guidance Department at 3095 or contact your child's team leader. We are fortunate to have the structure that allows for team/parent meetings to occur every Tuesday or Thursday. The times vary depending on your child's team. Please take advantage of this resource.
Sickness/Doctor's Notes: If your child is sick from school or unable to complete work when they are working virtually due to an illness, parents/students are required to submit a doctor's note. These doctor's notes should be handed into your child's homeroom teacher if they are physically in the building. If your child is working virtually or is sick on a Wednesday, please forward the note to our attendance secretary, Michelle Gray (graym@krsd.org).
School Store: The KRMS School Store will be open for business starting on October 5th! Much of the gear will be on display in the front lobby as kids walk by on the way to their classes or on our website. Students in Cohort A and B may fill out an order form and pay either using cash or check in homeroom. Students in Cohort V may order online using an order form; those students may pick up their merchandise in the main office between the hours of 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.
#1Dragon Family: Kingsway Regional Middle School is proud to announce the continuation of our climate and culture initiative entitled, #1DragonFamily. Our #1DragonFamily committee has met on two occasions this summer to map out several activities that will be instrumental in emphasizing the importance of accepting differences while promoting respect among the entire school community throughout the 2020-21 school year. In addition to the monthly activities and themes, we will be continuing our after school club entitled, Dragon SPARK which will serve as an opportunity to get our students further involved with this effort. We are extremely excited about launching this program, and we are certain that all students are sure to benefit from our commitment to this focus area. Our theme for the month of September was unity. October's theme will be fairness.
Renaissance Program: During our Renaissance Kickoff video, we explained the benefits and criteria of the Renaissance Program. For more information on this great incentive program, please visit the following link: http://www.krsd.org/Renaissance Please help to encourage your child to be a part of this program.
