Celebration Day

Thanks to the generosity of our PTO and families, and the leadership of Mrs. Tylke, Mr. Pomeroy, Mrs. Stauber, and Mrs. Monson, our students and staff are enjoying another Celebration Day. If you have a chance to stop out this afternoon, you will be amazed at the color and excitement of the day. Thank you for supporting this annual celebration of our Merton School community.

Wednesday, June 7th is a half day

This is just a reminder that next Wednesday, June 7th is our final day of school. It is also a half day with a noon release. There is no lunch served that day.

Lost and found items

The lost and found table in front of the office is once again piled high with too many items. Have your child check the table for any missing clothing, shoes, hats, and gloves. Any items left after Friday, June 9th will be donated to charity.

On a related note, any unclaimed lunch bags will be thrown away on Friday, June 9th, too.

Backpacks for kids

Mrs. Iwanski is collecting used or new backpacks to be sent to the Dominican Republic this summer to provide kids the supplies needed at a growing school. If you have a backpack (or 2) to donate, please drop it off at either office and Mrs. Iwanski will collect them and direct them to the proper channels to have them shipped. Deadline for donating backpacks is Wednesday, June 7th, our last day of school. Here is a link with more information.

Camp Invention is July 31st through August 4th

Camp Invention is coming to Merton this year as part of our summer school program for the amazingly low price of $35. This camp experience is for students entering grades K-6 and will take place the week of July 31-August 4 (which is the week between July and August summer school courses). Spots are filling up incredibly quickly, and we anticipate this opportunity being closed very soon. Want to register? Please call Camp Invention customer service at 1-800-968-4332. Want more information? Check out campinvention.org

Merton Community Garden

Now that the weather has finally stabilized, we are planning on getting our community garden going again, only one week later than last year. If you would like to donate vegetable plants, please bring them to the office next week. We are also in need of having someone rototill (Is that a word?) our garden before we plant. Tentative planting dates will be next Thursday and next Friday. National Junior Honor Society students are encouraged to volunteer. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks for your consideration!
