Congratulations To Our New Student Leadership!!!
Basic teaching is about creating opportunities for discovery and creativity. In our Catholic schools we not only help kids discover and create, we intentionally design moments that help students grow intellectually as well as spiritually. This is done in a variety of ways, but it always starts with instruction time being Christ centered in an environment that is committed to academic excellence and growth. This is not only done in our classrooms, science and technology lab, at St. Joseph students are given opportunities to grow in knowledge and virtue outside the traditional classroom in a variety of extracurricular activities. Seeds of virtue are planted as well as opportunities to problem solve, collaborate, struggle, and thrive in our GRACE families, Christian Service Program, on our Student Leadership Team, the CYO sports program, Robotics, Chess Club, Yearbook, our Fine Arts program ... At St. Joseph intellectual and spiritual growth is certainly not confined to the classroom.
Last week our Middle School held an election to select a team of students to represent their voice in our community on our Student Leadership Team. On Friday I was able to work with the team to select criteria they felt was appropriate for a specific new Middle School reward called “Jag Time.” I was so impressed with the collaborative spirit and real insight each student brought to the table. Everything about the meeting was kind, respectful, and positively reflected our Christ centered school community. Their final decisions and ideas were spot on! What an impressive team of young adults, I can’t wait to see what else they accomplish this year. Congratulations to the following students. I look forward to working with their leadership and “Hearts Aflame for the Love of Christ,” in the month to come.
