The Skull

Cranial Features
Ever notice that the shape and size of your skull is different from everyone else's? This has to do with the race and gender of a person. Many scientist use a part of the brain called the cranium to determine the race and gender of their victims. One's race and gender can be determined by the race and gender of the person.
Determining Gender from the Cranium
Gender can be determined in many ways, but scientist use a part of the brain called the cranium. The cranium has a very distinctive shape. Orbits are a part of the cranium that has its own shape and size. The female cranium tends to have a sharp orbit shape, yet men tend to have blunter orbits in the cranium. Scientists research has shown that the males and females brains are similar, yet very different at the same time. ( Determining Gender from the Cranium 1)
Determining Race from the Cranium
Ones whose ancestry divides into different parts of the world, usually tend to have different cranial features. Forensic anthropologist have been studying these differences for many years and have found that Africans tend to have a rectangular shaped cranium, Asians tend to have circular shaped cranium, and Europeans tend to have oval shaped craniums. These forensic anthropologist have found that 85% determination of race is from the cranium. All craniums are different due to the race of a person. ( Determining Race from the Cranium 2)
Determining both Gender and Race
Forensic scientist determine the race and gender of a person from many parts of the skull. These scientist can determine gender by the cranial features and growth rate of a person. These scientist determine race by the jaw bone and cranial features of a person. The scientist use cranial features such as the orbits to determine gender, orbits are a part of the cranium that has their own shape and size. The also use a growth rate to determine gender, men's bones tend to grow rapidly faster than women's bones. Forensic scientist use cranial features such as the bones in the cranium to determine race. These scientist also use the jaw bone to determine race. The jaw bone help because of the unique shape and size. ( Facts about the Human Skull for Kids 2)
Conclusion
Cranial features can determine many things including gender and race. Scientist have researched all over the world and found that the gender and race of a person can both be determined by cranial features. These scientist are reasearching everyday trying to find out what other things can be determine by the cranium.
