Every Student Counts, Every Moment Matters!
Message From Principal Webb
Hello families!
Seems like every week is jam-packed with some great learning and fun events at Longfellow. Thank you to all of the families that came to parent-teacher conferences on Monday. We had a great night of learning about Social Media Safety on Tuesday with the PTA, along with some great musical performances from 3rd-5th grades. Thursday night rounded out our week with an amazing display of art at the Longfellow Art Show.
The new Iowa Assessments now known as ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment System for Student Progress) will be coming up in April for grades 3rd-6th. Please see the letter below from our Curriculum Coordinator, for more information.
Sincerely,
Kelli Webb

Penny Wars-Coin Drive
1,2,3,4 Longfellow declares a Penny War! Put your change towards a good cause. All proceeds from the penny war fundraiser will go to support student field trips and Longfellow educational experiences- everyone is a winner!
Here’s how it works:
· Between February 22 and March 15, students may bring pennies and silver change to school
· Each penny counts as one positive point for YOUR child’s grade
· Each silver coin counts as negative points for OTHER grades. In other words, dropping a quarter in another classroom’s bucket takes 25 points from their total
· On March 15, a truce will be called. Points will be tallied and the classroom with the most points will win a pizza party!
Start saving your change—it can make a big difference!

Attendance Zones
- Attendance Zones
The Iowa City Community School District Board of Directors approved new elementary attendance areas for the 2019-20 school year. The new boundaries were approved during their November 27 board meeting. The updated maps can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/DistrictMaps. In addition, the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up links have been updated to reflect the approved boundary changes. The Attendance Area Look-Up links provide school information specific for your home address. The links can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/AttendanceAreaLookUp. Junior high and high school students may also be impacted by these changes. Please be sure to check the Attendance Area Look-Up link above to determine if changes to the elementary boundaries have affected your student.
