LEAD from Anywhere
Course Description
Lead from Anywhere is a course that provides an opportunity for participants to realize that leadership is not something that only happens from the top, down. It is something that can be effectively accomplished from anywhere within an organization. Participants will be introduced to four tools that can be used to enhance their leadership styles and assist them in holding themselves accountable to a trajectory of positive self-development.
Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Synthesize a personalized working definition of leadership
- Evaluate current competency levels in both the DISC and Emotional Intelligence arenas
- Create a plan to develop an Emotional Intelligent approach to guide interactions with others
- Explain how Situational Leadership can guide how to measure the level of support provided to co-workers
- Conduct GROW conversations to pinpoint and solve issues that might be hindering the productivity of individuals
Meet the Instructor
Dr. Newton Miller is an Associate Dean in the College of Education at Ashford University. He has been committed to the education arena since 1992 and has since served as a secondary and college level mathematics instructor, secondary science teacher, assistant principal, principal, educational consultant for a national education reform organization a Director of Teacher Education and now an Associate Dean. He has earned a BA in Mathematics from Cheyney University, a MS in Mathematics from Liberty University, a MEd in Educational Leadership from York College, a PhD in Education with an emphasis in Education Administration from Capella University, and is currently in the MBA program at Ashford University. His research interest lies within educating at-risk populations, focusing on the systemic thinking tied to student achievement, effective school cultures and facilitating programming and instruction that promotes educational success within non-traditional adult populations.
