In the Classroom
Using counters to find the missing number!
Students made kangaroo puppets to support our mammal learning!
Students learned that a kanagaroo is a special mammal called a marsupial!
Learning This Week
Reading- This week students will deepen our learning of fiction comprehension skills and strategies, such as wondering, predicting, and finding the central message in a story. All first grade students must be able to distinguish between fiction and nonfiction by the end of first grade.
Writing- This week students will focus on writing how to stories to teach peers how to do or make something! Students will learn the importance of time order words like: first, then, next, and last to help put directions in order.
Math- Students will begin exploring how to find a missing addend (ex: 7 + ___= 10) and subtraction strategies. By the end of first grade, students should be able to fluently add within 1-10 and have strategies to subtract within 1-20.
Science- This week students are learning the history and traditions of Thanksgiving, past and present.
