From The Principal
Paris Ridge Families -
Earlier this week, we met as building teams to look at our data and celebrate student growth from the start of the year. Although we looked at several different assessments during these meetings, we wanted to share two pieces of data with you that we feel encapsulate our student growth this year:
Academic - At the start of the year, 67% of students met our benchmark for reading as measured by the Acadience assessment. At the end of the year…..81% of students met this mark. A growth of 14%!
Behavioral - In 2018-19, 75% of students at Paris Ridge received 1 SWIS form or less…. that number was 87% in 2021-22! This was the second year in a row that this number was above 85%.
Overall, our students made tremendous progress this year. It was once again a reminder of how special Paris Ridge is and that when staff, students and parents work together - great things happen!
Finally, as we head into the LAST WEEK of the 2021-22 school year, I wanted to draw your attention to two traditional events that will be taking place:
Field Day - Wednesday, June 1st starting at 12:40 PM. Families are invited to join their child’s class as they travel around the various events/stations on Wednesday afternoon. The gates to the back playground will be open starting around 12:30 and we plan to kick-off Field Day right at 12:40. This is the first time we have combined times and will be doing one, building-wide Field Day. It should be a great afternoon!
Flag Lowering and 4th Grade “Walk Out” - Late Friday afternoon, we will be gathering as a school to lower the Paris Ridge Flag, celebrate the year, and say goodbye to our 4th grade students who will be transitioning to Kraft Meadows next year. The Flag Lowering usually takes place around 3:15 and the “walk out” will occur afterwards. Fourth grade families are welcome to join and watch the “walk out” if it works in their schedules.
It is going to be a great week! Have a wonderful weekend…..and we will see you back on TUESDAY!
Your Principal,
Mr. Vydareny
FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! Caledonia Community Schools are unable to keep medication over the summer, including inhalers, Epi-pens and all Over the Counter (OTC) medication. Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication(s) before or on the last day of the school. If you are unable to pick up the medication prior to school ending and need to make special arrangements to pick up the medications, please call the school prior to the end of the school year to make these arrangements. The school cannot allow your child to bring the medication home (unless noted on consent form as self-carry) or allow anyone but a parent/guardian to pick it up. Many of these medications are expensive and the school is required to dispose of any medication that is not picked up, so please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication as soon as possible. All medications will be disposed of on Friday, June 10th. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Paris Ridge Office at 616-891-7033. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

FROM THE COMMUNITY
SUMMER TUTORING
My name is Mrs. Rath, and I am a 3rd grade teacher at Paris Ridge. If you are looking for summer tutoring for your child, feel free to contact me. I have tutored K-5th grade for the past 10 years and have enjoyed working with students and seeing them grow in confidence. Sometimes kids just need more time to master skills and extending that learning time can really make a difference. Tutoring also offers a one-on-one opportunity to improve reading, math and writing skills.
Feel free to email, and we can discuss the details. rathk@calschools.org
