Mariner Memo
March 1, 2019
A full 5-day week! It was so wonderful to have a full week with the kids after many weather-shortened weeks. We had a busy one and we have much to share as we closed out February and started March.
Featured in this Memo are the wonderful arts programs that we offer to our students. Check out the information about the upcoming one-act play performances of our MCMS Drama group. This week our students also traveled to the Performing Arts Center for band and choir clinics in which they were evaluated by an outside trainer and then had the opportunity to learn and improve, all in preparation for their festivals coming up soon.
It was such a busy week that we weren't able to focus on a student of the week or caught with character student. That just means that we will have more great stories to share next week!
Before I close, I wanted to an article from the Detroit Free Press that came out earlier this week about the dangers of vaping. Sadly, this short article describes just one of the many dangers associated with this behavior.
Have a great weekend.
-Mr. Ming

The first 3 weeks in March the Marine City Middle School Student Council will be starting the Pennies for Pasta fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! The class that collects the most money will get an Olive Garden party, and the second place class will get a pizza party! The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has also started a new incentive this year and will be giving away cool prizes for individuals who collect certain amounts! Please consider donating for this great cause!

The one-act plays will be presented to the community at the Performing Arts Center on Thursday, March 21st at 7pm. Tickets for the night are just $5 and offset the cost of offering this new activity to our students. Mark your calendars to come out and support these pioneering students!
