We are eager to share that we will be adding AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination). AVID is a college readiness system that supports students' academic success in rigorous courses. Students are taught important skills like purposeful note-taking, organization, public speaking, responsibility, etc. Our teachers are being trained, and we will be implementing this middle school wide in all content areas!

Dress Code Reminders
Please Help Students Come in to School Wearing Proper Uniform Everyday!
We seem to be addressing more and more dress code violations as we near the end of the school year. Please help your student arrive in approved school uniform each day!
This includes
- Rolling shorts for girls - some are getting shorter and shorter
- Non-Plato Sweatshirts
- Black athletic shorts are only permitted on Fridays or game days with sports jerseys
- Athletic shorts with stripes or insignias are not allowed - solid black only
4th Quarter - Finish Strong!
We are in the last quarter of school, and it is time to really show what we know! Please continue to remind and encourage your student/s to stay on top of their grades this last quarter and maintain high expectations in the classroom! We are here to partner with them each step of the way!
Here are some ways you can support your student:
- Check Focus/Portal to be sure all assigned work is turned in
- Encourage your student to stay after school for scheduled support with their teacher
- Help your student be on time and ready for school
For those in sports, please keep those grades up for playing eligibility - grades pulled Mondays for the whole week!
Student Council Meetings Update
I would like to announce that Student Council meetings will no longer be after school on Mondays. The meetings will be held during lunch time in my classroom on two days when I do not have lunch duty. This week the meetings will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. One meeting will be with 7th and 8th grade, and the other will be with 6th grade with the President and Vice President of the student council being present. I feel that there will be more effective communication by breaking up the meetings into two smaller groups.
