JOY to the WORLD!
This amazing lady is our world and the James Center and AppEd will be lost without her in January after she retires. We hope she will enjoy this time with her family and close friends, and will come visit us often. If you want to smile and laugh, come see Joy this week. We love you Joy!
Happy Exam Week! GOOD LUCK!

Art Education Exhibit
It is always interesting how our networks keep us connected, even after twenty years. And the discovery of one of my recent reconnections was during a four year old's birthday party. During the short time at the Children's Playhouse this past Saturday, I recognized a familiar face from my experiences at Governor School in 1997. Yeah, I felt a little ridiculous approaching this individual because it had been almost twenty years! Well, thank goodness I had the name and face right! I was in the theater program and Adam Adcock was in the art program at St. Andrews college. Even though we both attended Appalachian State as undergraduates (and masters) along with both of us working as staff members at the university, our paths crossed at the most random places. Adam informed me about the amazing work that our art educators had created for the end of semester projects and I was able to view the display at Wey Hall first thing this morning. The reason, I share this story----value the experiences you are having right now, especially the people around you, because you never know how it can impact your future. I remain grateful for Adam because I was able to learn more about the connections of the art department and education along with remembering where I have come to get me where I am today. Just a thought before you leave for the holiday break....
