All of the PPCS school community wishes to extend our thoughts and prayers to all of the people of Ukraine and especially their families here in our communities, our province, and our country.

Do you want to work with the best team in the world? Of you course you do, who wouldn't. Good news! We are looking for casual custodians to help out Mr. Rye, Mrs. Samalla, and Mrs. Antazo when they need to be away. I hear it pays pretty good and the people you would work with are awesome. If you would like more information, please contact the school.

More and more, normal (or at least what we remember as normal) is returning. This includes the cold season. Many students have sniffles and some coughs. We thank our families for being cooperative and understanding in terms of keeping students home while they are symptomatic.

Although things are more normal, we remain cautious as COVID-19 is ever-present in our community and province. As we always have, we continue to have families who, for a variety of reasons, find themselves or their loved ones immunocompromised and/or immunosuppressed. We also have students and families who feel anxiety about the virus. For all these reasons and many more, some students continue to wear masks, some avoid larger gatherings, and most importantly, they rely on us as their school community to help them feel safe. This is why we ask symptomatic students to remain at home until symptoms (especially fevers) have subsided.

This, not only helps all of our students and families to feel safe, but it also allows us to begin returning to normal in terms of school activities. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate out of the pandemic and into new normal.

I spoke with the clothing company. The company is securing the rights to the retro logo. They will then reprint the retro orders and send them out. There is no extra cost and there is no need to return the erroneous orders. Back orders are expected to be in within the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you to everyone who supported our book fair. We reached and exceeded our goal of $3000 in sales, meaning that 60% will be returned to the school in terms of books as well as other things for the library. It was wonderful to have the book fair back in person. Huge thanks to Ms. Boutin and all of her volunteers for not only holding a very successful book fair but also getting it packed up in time for the dance dress rehearsal on Thursday. Special thanks to Brianne Cole for lending her talents and some of her decorations for our book fair.

This last weekend PPCS hosted Senior Boys Basketball conference playoffs. Our boys played hard but did not come away with a victory. This means that their run for provincials has officially come to an end.

We want to extend a huge thanks to Mr. Bloski for all of his work. Mr. B puts in many, many, many hours to our sports programming and his hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated. Thanks as well to all of our volunteers who helped make the season possible. Lastly, thanks to our players. You had a great season, grew as a team, grew as individuals and made your school community proud.

We would like to congratulate Ava Tiedjens for being chosen as our female athlete of the week. Ava was a member of our fall golf team and our junior girls' volleyball team. She is also a member of the Porcupine School of dance and plays ball. Ava has an amazing (albeit dry) sense of humor and gives 110% to whatever she does. We would also like to congratulate JR Antazo for being chosen as our female athlete of the week. JR is an integral part of our Senior Boys basketball team, and he is only in grade 9. JR has consistently played up as part of our junior and senior teams, beginning when he was in grade 6. JR has also helped to coach Steve Nash basketball in the past. On top of all that, JR also works to help promote sports culture in our school by looking after the team bulletin boards; he also helped to design and select our school clothing. Thank you to both of our athletes for all that you do for our school community.

We want to send a huge thanks to Miss Hoffus who was selected as our volunteer of the week. Miss Hoffus always volunteers to help out with any and all school activities, especially in the canteen. Our special activities rely heavily on our volunteers and Miss Hoffus is always greatly appreciated for her commitment to our school community.
