Big Walk and Wheel Starts Monday!

Don’t forget that we are encouraging all children to walk or wheel at least some of their journey to school every day next week. The Eco Warriors will be counting journeys from each class and we have entered a national competition, so please help us to do well.

Adventure Photography will be in school on Tues 21st March to take the annual class photographs.

Open Classrooms Tuesday 21st March.

Our Open Classrooms event takes place after school next Tuesday. All parents are invited to come into their child’s classroom to look at their work with them. We are very proud of what they have produced and do encourage you to come along if you are able.

Litter Pick 24.3.23

The Eco Warriors are organising a litter pick in the village on Friday 24th March by children in Years 3 – 6 as part of the Great Big School Clean initiative run by Keep Britain Tidy.

Singing Festival 31st March - Parents welcome.

There won’t be a Golden Book assembly on 31st March because some of our older children are organising a singing festival that day. Parents are welcome to come along to watch this at 2.30pm.

Well done to our Orienteering Teams.

Well done to the teams of children that attended the orienteering festival yesterday. They were amazing ambassadors for our school and one team won one of the events.

Beer Festival - Can you help?

The Beer Festival is an amazing event that raises a great deal of money for our school (last year this was £8000). They are currently planning the event for this September and are seeking the involvement of parents in planning the event, particularly in the areas of identifying entertainment, and managing social media. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution and shape the festival this year. You do not need to be a member of the PTA or have involvement in any other activities, just the enthusiasm to be involved. If you are interested please speak to Mr Weights or a member of the Beer Fest committee.

Poor Parking & Driving.

Sadly, we have yet again experienced poor parking and driving around our school. This week, a member of staff was verbally abused by a driver who then mounted the kerb on Water Lane. This is entirely unacceptable behaviour. Please try to set a good example to others by being a good road user, and if you witness dangerous behaviour we would encourage you to report it to the police on 101.

School Calendar

Don't forget to check the school calendar regularly. We have lots going on and don't want you to miss anything.

Free school meals for all years for pupils whose families receive financial support.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child could also qualify for free school meals during all school years. To qualify you must be receiving:

  • Universal Credit, provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods (£616.67 per month)

  • Income Support

  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • The guarantee element of Pension Credit

  • Child Tax Credit, provided you are also not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual household gross income that does not exceed £16,190 (as assessed by HMRC)

  • Working Tax Credit run-on, paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

Please note that contributions-based benefits, including contribution-related Jobseekers' Allowance do not entitle you to claim free school meals.

Apply for free school meals

You will receive an instant decision on whether your application is successful. If it is, we will fully process the application in 5 working days and notify the school. Once the school has received this your child can begin enjoying free school meals. You should continue to pay until confirmation comes through. Schools may be able to arrange reimbursement of payment made while your entitlement is being confirmed.

Free school meals claims cannot be backdated. They are awarded from the date we receive the application, once eligibility is confirmed. This is because there is a legal requirement for a request to be made, before a free school meal can be provided. If you are not entitled to free school meals, you will be notified in writing.
